rudark
Is it true that the new Fourteen TC770 forged is not as quality forged as those of miura or tourstage? I have heard that their forging process does not make them buttery, but more clicky? It is quite expensive (3-PW in Thailand is around $1700.) Can anyone that's hit them shed some light on these irons. IMO, they do look stunning though. BTW, Royal Collections CV101 is a real treat, tried them today, one of the softest cast irons i've hit. you guys should try em out.
wwd
I tried the forged 770 and found them to be very nice and "soft." Buy them in the states if you want a cheaper deal, they are priced like any high end US golf club here now that they are trying to enter a very competitive mkt. Its softer than Tourstage, heck even their castings are softer than Tourstage. 1700! is crazy! Why buy in Thailand when you can get it for the best price here shipped to your door. CV101 doesnt compare to the 770 forged IMO. Ask Madball about how soft these are.
K2_2
Yes, Fourteen stuff is 100% quality, both their castings and forged clubs. I have never heard anything bad about their irons. As for the price in Thailand, I have found clubs from some manufacturers to be about the same or slightly cheaper than Japan/US, but Fourteen stuff here is definitely more expensive than I have seen it in any other market. Sigh... Your inputs on the quality of these irons are going to cost me money. Look what you've done! I didn't realize TSG has the forged 770 in the pro shop. Can you order them cheaper than $1700 for an 8 club set? I really have to demo these, and compare it to the CB1006 and see how it goes. Really want to "feel" these clubs on the range. Thanx

So i can order the length, lie, shaft, grip and all the specs of the clubs? I have little experience with overseas shipping costs and taxes, but at that much cheaper, transportation costs shouldn't be a problem. To let you know, i am very interested, and i will demo these out soon, and tell you what i think. Can i contact you personally, (excuse my ignorance, whats pm?). My email is [email protected] . ( just looking at the clubs at a local fourteen shop makes me wanna steal them!). The dealer says that i have to wait about a week or so, until the demo comes in from japan, so i will let you know. Thanks a lot

Most models available in the US are there. Go to TourSpec's homepage and click on the REVIEWS tab. Blader-X, it seems like we share the same tastes in irons (x-blade 2). I bought mine about 2 months ago, previously using the ping I3 blades, and the feeling is so much different. I am new to the golf equipment hype, pretty much a feel player and never really crazy about golf equipment until now. Many TSG posters on this forum seem to know their stuff quite well, perhaps some has tried over hundreds of irons. It seems that many say that Tourstage forged by Endo is clicky more than soft. When i flush the x-blade 2, it just sounds so smooth and muted. Do you agree with me, or in your opinion is our irons more clicky than the epons or miuras? I have tried only a few forged irons from Titty, mizzy, epon, and miura, and i can't say that the tourstage forges are clicky. What are your views? Before hitting the TC770's--I've played the Japan TaylorMade R7 Forged, Epon Type J , Miura CB-201's , Gauge Design NC1's , ect....and I never thought an iron could come close to the feel of the R7 Forged Without a doubt-- the TC770 Forged is the best feeling iron I've ever hit and the cast version is supposed to be even better feeling--if thats possible.. Fourteen takes a back seat to no one as far as these irons go You won't find a better deal on these than right here off of Chris.. I'll have a set in the near future

I have only hit TourStage and Titleist so I wouldn't know about the others in terms of comparison. I must say that I do love my X-blades. They first got me with their looks and then their performance. When flushed they are smooth but I do feel that they do have a little click to them. To me its not distracting. I'm sure the Miura and Epon are most likely softer but couldn't say for sure without hitting them. I'm happy with them right now and won't be interested in another set of irons until Epon brings out a blade model. My next set of blades I want to really get custom with them so most likely will be them or maybe even a set from Scratch. Nothing out there has caught my eye yet. ClubHoUno
Unfortunately the Tc770 looks to have a too thick topline for my taste - if not for this, I would be all over this iron. I've heard nothing but great about Fourteen. Fourteen can actually make a cast club that feels softer than their forged, and mind you, Fourteens forgings supposedly are among the softest and very best in the business. Unfortunate about the thick topline of the Tc770 though...... Also their lofts are far too strong for my taste - the Pw is 45°. But I guess Chris can special order them with custom lofts.......PW has to be at least 47° ! Edited February 13, 2007 by Claus
anykine
I agree. 45* for the PW is way too strong. 47* is ideal for me as well. Good question though . . Can the TC770's be ordered with custom lofts while keeping the same bounce? Edited February 13, 2007 by anykine

LOL Just wait another week Ben ill get you another fix. Can the TC770's be ordered with custom lofts while keeping the same bounce? It can be bent after market but not keeping the bounce the same. I hear ya guys on the lofts but I admit im a convert, im now adapting and playing to a 5-PW 52/58 setup because of it. If you wanna get over it, have a distance gap analysis done with each and every club in your bag, then simply fine tune and you will find all gaps covered. reggie
Here's a few pics for you Breal and all other interested TSGr's.Unfortunately they don't list any specs for offset on their website. They do get quite detailed on the MOI and center of gravity however. I saw the Fourteen Forged 770 in person at a Golf Store that TSG recommended I visit and these are very beautiful clubs. Got to hit the demo 7 iron with the NSPro 950Stiff and it feels ultra soft and I got to hit the Fourteen blades too with the DGS200. Both truly give you a buttery feeling. This store was unreal because it had most of the equipment that's on this site and I got to hit them including some drivers and I felt like a kid going to Toys R Us for the first time. Unreal!!! I also got to hit the following 6 irons (5 good hits) on a launch monitor which was terrific because you get a printed feedback asap: Miura with the Tour Concept X1 shaft, the Srixon with the Project X shaft, the Epon Type S with the Black Gold shaft, the MP32 with the S300 shaft and the Type J with the Tour Concept S3 shaft. The Miura and the Type J felt the best to me but it could be because both had the same Tour Concept shaft just different flex. Asthetically, the Miura CB1006 and the Fourteen 770 were the most beautiful with the 770 reminding me of the irons that Phil Mickelson first used which were made by Yonex. For those of you debating whether to purchase the 770, it's a no brainer guys. This is one outstanding club. Now you just have to trust TSG to fit you with the right shaft for your swing--if it were me, the Tour Concepts were the best but I was told by TSG to try the Project X Flighted before I made up my mind. As far as where the store is located, you'd have to ask TSG to reveal the information. All I know is I can't wait for the owners to get back from their vacation so that I could get fitted and find out if my current driver is ideal for me or if an Epon, Tourstage, etc with an Axiv, Roddio, Rombax is the way to go. Thanks TSG for recommending this terrific store!!! Edited February 13, 2007 by reggie

reggie
Can you give additional thoughts on the Miura CB1006? I love the look of this club. There's not much else for me to say. It looks way better in person than it does on the the net! But so did the Epon J and S--just didn't like the badge on them--but feel wise--can't get much better. For my swing, the Tour Concept X1 shaft felt really good with the Miura and I didn't feel the click that other people have. I also didn't notice the clicky feeling that people were claiming in the other forums about the Epon J. Once again, it could be because it had the Tour Concept S3 shaft. If you're looking for numbers, none of the clubs tested gave me more carry than my clubs which was expected cuz I'm used to my clubs. The Miura with the X1 was only a 1.3 yards less in carry at 176.7 than my T-Zoid II and the Miura was only .5 yards behind in Total. The Miura was also less offline by 6 yards but maybe that's because it was an extra stiff shaft and the ball speed was only .8 less (115.1). Launch was .7 less at (15.1), backspin was 157 less at 3868, sidespin was much less, Push/pull were nearly equal and club head speed was only 1mph less at 80.7. The Epon J with the S3 shafts were 2.8 yards behind in carry to the Miura, but was 2 yards less offline, 1mph less in ballspeed, 1.3 higher in launch, 416 more in backspin, closer to my Zoids in sidespin, 2.2 less in push/pull with a clubhead speed of 81.2. These numbers were acquired with the shaft being 1/2 inch shorter than the X1 and my own clubs. So these numbers could have been much better. Overall the Epon J's felt easier to hit because I felt like I didn't have to work as hard hitting the softer S3 shaft than the X1 on the Miura. Even though the numbers were somewhat similar, this was only based on a few swings but I did maximize the session because luckily I didn't miss too much. The Miura's gave numbers closer to my clubs but I really had to work hard because of the TC X1 and maybe also because they were the last clubs I was hitting for the session. Now the Miura with the TC S3 would have been really fun to try or maybe with the Project X Flighted but that's for another time. lol You just have to give good, honest info to TSG and he can help you find the combination to any of the heads (Miura, Epon, etc.) that will get you closer to your desired goals. Trust our Sensei. He'll hit more than he'll miss. Edited February 14, 2007 by reggie
