Axiv vs Roddio - What are the differences?

So, I JUST received my Epon 460 with Axiv 7076... very nice! Thanks Chris!

BUT, did I make the wrong shaft choice? All this talk about Roddio is making me worried. Mind you, I haven't hit the Axiv yet so I shouldn't knock the Axiv but what am I missing (if anything) by not going with the Roddio? I hate this feeling of having bought a new product only find out that the new model just released :tsg_smiley_question::tsg_smiley_bush:

Who here play an Axiv and are planning to switch to the Roddio?

Who here have played both the Axiv and the Roddio? What are the differences you've noticed?

I haven't hit mine either other than a few balls in a snowy field. The Roddio discussion has caught my interest as well. I am going to give the EPON/Axiv combo a good test over the next few weeks before I make a knee jerk reaction to the Roddio pub. I think I read Chris has a Roddio/EPON combo and will hopefully give a review in the immediate future.

Hey Guys,

This is a never ending chase you know. I guess that's the fun of it; always looking for that small marginal (or magical) increases.

Cheers, :tsg_smiley_question:

Bingo. Like the world of high tech and computers: there's always something coming out that's a little better, newer, and sexier. But does it make a large or just a small difference? THAT is the question.....

I agree there's always the next "greatest" thing in the waiting but it's a crapping feeling when the it comes out even before you hit a single ball with your current purchase. Having said that, I still have high hopes for my Epon/Axiv combo.

Just an observation but a majority of the people interested in the Roddio vs whatever seem to have surrendered to the idea that the Roddio is better than anything on the market. Anyone disagree? Carl (TBC777) wrote he's played the Roddio but is planning to go back to the Axiv, does he know something that we don't? :tsg_smilie_laugh:

I don't think that anyone has stated that the Roddio is as good or better than the Axiv models. I'm not sure anyone has spent enough time (if any at all) with the Roddio to make this determination yet. I'm just a club junkie and curious as are the others but for now everyone knows for sure that the Axiv's are a great highend shaft option so I wouldn't be unhappy at all about your new Epon/Axiv combo. Be happy and make birdies is what I say!!

It's not a question of who knows something someone else doesn't know. It's all about you finding the best shaft for yourself.

When talking about the Axiv, Roddio, Quattro, Diamana's etc, they are all such good shafts all with their own strengths and characteristics. Hearing good things about the Roddio doesn't in any way cast a shadow over the Axiv's performance. Truth is maybe the Axiv isn't for everyone but it does work for a lot of people, the Roddio will probably be the same. For some people the Axiv will be better, for some the Roddio, and for others an Ozik.... etc.

That said there's nothing wrong with getting excited with the new kid on the block and new tech as Dorkman and Duffer said. But not to worry cause all those positive reviews about the Axiv must mean something right? (^_^)

Nobody has surrendered to that idea (yet ^^). It would be hard to considering the majority of people would be making that assumption without ever hitting a Roddio. I follow the JDM market really closely as does Chris and many others and no one has declared the Roddio champion, we're merely saying, it's a pretty good shaft, techwise and looks wise. Even the shootout where Roddio did pretty awesome, it made it clear that the Roddio performed for that specific tester's swing.

Don't worry, if you were fit with the right model axiv with the epon head, you will love it! (^_-)

Put the Roddio out of the mind for the time being and go get up close and personal with the Epon/Axiv V. I too have seen all the latest write up on this shaft but I'm too happy with the Axiv V. I've never been a big fan of the Daiwa company so maybe that's why I'm not so excited about it. I also don't like the look of Roddio as well so that too has something to do with it. Hit the Epon/Axiv V for awhile and wait until more is written from others testing out the Roddio. If after that time it is still living up to the hype, then make the switch!!

Have fun. :tsg_smilie_laugh:

The Roddio is too new, We dont know exact tipping instructions, bend profiles, or how they perform in the real. In a little time everyone will have a clear idea. For now and I have tested them all the Tour AD's do me best by far. Quattro Tech 65S and PT-7 in FW's, Even the PT-6 in a Driver is unreal.

Axiv is 4 weave and Roddio is 5 weave, Ill have tons more info and pics next week for you guys. Remember its whats best for your swing so for some it may be a V Spec Axiv, and others a Diamana or Ozik.
