Phillip Alexander
I've had some discussions via pm with acrazygolfer about the benefits and characteristics of the NS Pro and the Tour Concept. I will now open the discussion to the board, for those of you who have played both as to what you liked and what you didn't about the two. Blader-X
I love my NS Pro's but I have had absolutey no experience with TC's. I would love to hear more about them as well as what makes them so good and what kind of ball flight one gets. I like the feel of my NS Pros but would love it if the ball flight was lower with that same feel. Please any and all who have used the TC's please comment. Hey Blader X, you feel your ball flight is still high with the X-Stiff Pros, i am putting together a set with Chris, Epon Type S +1 Inch, Swing speed with 5 Iron was 96. Just looking for some feed back.
dorkman53
I've had Tour Concepts, NS 950's and 1150's. I prefer the Nippons over the Tour Concepts. The Nippons are more predictable for distance. I had trouble missing long, short, long, short, etc. with the Tour Concepts. I'd get less than I expected, then one would come out really hot. They seemed too sensitive for my tastes. The Nippons are more forgiving, in my hands. Both feel great, since they are softer tipped and have slightly lower kickpoints compared to Dynamic Golds, the 'gold standard' of iron shafts. The Nippon 950's play a bit soft to flex, but the 1150's seem about right to flex. Another shaft that feels great similar to the Nippons and also has good control is the True Temper Black Gold. I don't have the distance problem experienced by you. However, after two rounds and three range sessions, it appears I'm about 5 to 7 yards shorter with the TC S3 as against the 1150 in the NC-1s. Am thinking the lost distance is attributable to:(1) the softer steel used in the Milled MBs versus the steel in the NC-1s, and (2) the S3 is similar to the 1050 (I was in fact shorter with the 1050 than the 1150. May be the TC X1 is more similar to the 1150. Any one with experience with the X1 and 1150?
ranghips
I have had my NS Pro 950 GH stiff for nearly 5 months and I am absolutely delighted with them, yes they do play slightly softer than flex, but IMO they are the best iron shafts available. I have tried all the current shafts except Black gold, The Nippons are so predictable, have wonderful feel and I have found that I can easily control the trajectory to play knock down shots or high floaters. I have to admit that the tour concepts are very close in performance, but to me, they didn't offer the same quality of feel and I too had some issues with distance control with them. The Nippons are not as long as Project X in my experience, but I didn't like the PX as I couldn't feel the clubhead, the shaft seemed lifeless to me. Hope my 2 cents worth is helpful! Case in point, my driver with the Axiv-V was thinking maybe I could do better with the Quattrotech which I just got in the 3 wood. Then I go out in my last 2 rounds and just bomb it with the trajectory I'm looking for. Same idea with the NSPro 1150's. I love the feel and overall I am satisified with the way they flight the ball. However, I would like to flight my higher irons (8,9,PW) somewhat lower. Its not that its ballooning, its my own personal taste. I like to hit those higher irons on a much lower trajectory. It could be I'm just going at it too hard or it could be the shaft. Maybe I need to hard step the next set which is what I may do when the time comes. Feel wise, however, I am in love with the 1150's and I used to be a pretty devout X100 guy.

Blader-X
Blader-X what's your swing speed with the driver? That's a good question. Haven't measured in a long time but probably should. I'm thinking around 110-115 but could be as high as 120 or low as 105?. I should go measure one day just to see. I'm fairly in tune with my swing and I know I do well with the equipment I play with. I'll have to get back to you on that question.
