Posted April 8, 200717 yr comment_132506 It has been said (by Gocchin) that I like obscure Japanese brands (somewhat true) but this is one for you -www.grindstudio.com for those who like custom wedges and soon irons. Just looking at the pictures, the wedges look fantastic. I found this link accidentally from a well known Japanese golf blogger site, Toshi at www.anserfreak.ne.jp (an older Japanese version of Inpakuto?) p.s. For your infornation T, Matsumoto is not an obscure brand; unlike GD, HM has been a putter maker for over 40 years.
April 8, 200717 yr comment_132509 Hehe I didn't mean to say Matsumoto was obscure... what I meant was it wasn't quite as mainstream as some of the bigger brands. Yes anserfreak was the king of golf blogging in Japan but I think it was Chris who told me he got a job and really cut back on blogging. Grindstudio looks amazing... I think I will check it out a bit more... Look at the process on this page: http://www.grindstudio.com/grind_operation/index.html and some of the wedges here: http://www.grindstudio.com/art_of_grinding/index.html
April 8, 200717 yr comment_132510 Hi Duffer, The thanks for the link, those wedges look great (one example reminds me a bit of the grind on some Yururi wedges floating around Thailand). As for Matsumoto, you've already said it, but they have indeed been around for a long time! Edit for Gochin's quick response while I was typing! Gochin, while Matsumoto isn't mainstream per say in Japan, wouldn't most avid golfers there be familiar with the brand? In other parts of Asia the brand has pretty good recognition and distribution. You can even find Matsumoto putters and irons in department stores around Bangkok, along with some specialty boutiques that only carry their gear. Edited April 8, 200717 yr by K2_2

I love the laser etched logo 'GS'.
April 8, 200717 yr Author comment_132513 Hi T: While we are on the tread of obscure brands, would you be able to find the official website and share it with us, for Pnoez shafts or more particularly the PX-1 line which was featured in the recent shaft shootout on GolfGear. The shaft looks interesting.
April 8, 200717 yr comment_132516 i have had a set of these grindstudio since june or so of 2004, it was from toshi who help me made the order. these wedges are done by the same guy who does the grinds on the Fourteen MT-28 PROTOTYPEs; Mr. Tomaru. He has his own company and brand, called "Grind Studio".

April 8, 200717 yr Author comment_132522 these are not mine in particular, but a couple pics to look at none the less Hi Tourstage bape I love the look and the workmanship. Let's get one, T.
April 8, 200717 yr comment_132523 Very cool!! Like all the options with the different grinds and etchings. They even make some killer looking blades. Wonder if these clubs perform as good as they look??
April 9, 200717 yr comment_132535 Dont you guys wish we coud play golf with 14 wedges in our bags instead of the rest of the clubs? These wedges and some of the others on this site would be killer in a bag.
April 9, 200717 yr comment_132554 There are so many good weges out of Japan. There is sort of an underground wedge resurgence that has been in Japan ever since the Zodia gained a following about 4 years ago.. I have seen Teardrops, ARCs, etc that look/play just as good as the higehr end $200 wedges.
April 9, 200717 yr comment_132556 What are the prices for the Grind Studio wedges? Any performance reviews?
April 9, 200717 yr comment_132560 leepark, going strickly on the grindstudio website, they have the price at 35,000yen so $325 US or so.
April 9, 200717 yr comment_132563 Reminds me very much of Fourteen, how its modern style and concept really have me attracted to it. Its a nice wedge in the sea of many available.
April 10, 200717 yr comment_132636 Chris, can you get these wedges? If not can they be ordered here in the states? Thanks
April 21, 200717 yr comment_133230 Jack's DTs don't help his short game...... however the search continues for the perfect 60* to fix the problem (even had a lesson recently, which did help)
