Thats to bad cause you know how we feel about their premium zones. just when i thought i had found my holy grail. the 3 wood 14* gft with the PT-7 is an absolute bomb. ball rockets off the face whether its on the tee or the short grass or thr rough (not just any rough- bethpage black rough). Chris, does this mean that if we come across any gauge clubs, we should grab them.
Phillip Alexander
I am truly sadened to hear of the demise of Gauge / G-Field. Having been a member of the site for the last two years, I have enjoyed all the commentary of the members who have been lucky enough to own these clubs. Who knows what the future holds, however I'm sure if the brand / product was resurected it would be welcomed by the members of TSG. Good luck to the Gauge directors. May prosperity shine again on them.
Jess123
Chris, is there currently some consideration of G-field being acquired/rebadged under the Golds Factory name?

ranghips
g-field / gauge design has produced some of the best clubs around. woods...........gft-fw utilities..........gft-utility irons.............handmades/nc1 wedges.........gas/gft putters..........premium zone they have a winner in every category if you ask me. I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CONTINUE MAKING CLUBS. how in the world are they going UNDER. it makes me sick. they make my favorite clubs. sad 808. I absolutely agree! I have two G-Field/Guage Design putters, a Premium Zone #0 and a 'Tera', they are both gorgeous to look at, put the best roll on the ball and are superb quality. I briefly had a GFT 16* wood, (it was stolen from the boot of my car!), I only played three rounds with it but it was so impressive, I would like it back, how can I find a replacement if they are no more? I cannot believe that this company can be allowed to go out of business, their products are so good that someone HAS to rescue them, surely there is a big enough following of loyal customers to make that viable! alpha_pro
sad to see this happen. i really would like a set of gft wedges again...............stupidly i sold my 52* to 808hack and he has refused to give it back!
Phillip Alexander
Perhaps there should be a capital raising or an IPO.......any other suggestions???

They have made some fantastic clubs, but are there enough of us on here to keep them afloat ? On the serious side, I really hope that they can get things set straight, or atleast sell off some of their designs (especially the Premium Zone putters) if they decide to close their doors. Money is cheap, atleast these days. A group can be put together to raise the money, but will need to understand what the real issue is: cashflow issues (can be solved); key people leaving (very difficult to solve). Chris, do you have any insights.
master
Chris may have better insights but I'm told by golf industry people in HK that G-Fields expanded too quickly, they tried to provide a large products range from driver to bag. G-fields is small in Japan & Tourspec is their largest source of customers thanks to Chris' work. Although most of the stuffs are made in China one still needs to place a minimum orders eg one hunderd bags per colour, not to mention the tooling & R& D costs. It's tough for a small golf manufacturer competes with the big OEM. Imagine how long it took for Royal Collection to become today's size & they are still not offering full range of products. Duffer19
I am sure you guys know how difficult it is to make it in the golf equipment business, especially a small outfit like Gauge or G-Field. Honma, with its long history, has been on the brink many times. Most larger JDM brands are all (small) part of major corporations hence tremendous resources behind them. Gauge or G-Field would never have the ad dollar to compete and less cash flow for manufacturing facilities at home or in China. To be honest, I was surprised that it lasted as long as it did. It would even be tougher to launch it in North America. In the beginning, it had some innovation on the putter line from its tie with David Whitlam but things become stagnant on both sides after the dispute and lawsuit. This is most unfortunate but this is indeed a tough and competitive business.
landshark
i've got a great looking set of g field nc1's. do you think the value of these will go up, or stay pretty constant? not sure what i could even get for just selling the heads? any idea? I think the only things that appreciate in value / stay constant are the Handmades and the premium zones. everything else is likely to follow the law of gravity. there's enough supply of the NC1s / fairway woods / utility woods in the resale market and the buyers are likely to move on to the next new thing (aka EPONs etc)
