Posted April 30, 200717 yr I noticed today on the TourStage sight the new GR series woods. I see that the fairway woods are made of SUS 630 Body with a 455 steel insert face. With the Driver I can only make out that it is made of 6AL-4V Titanium, since I cannot read Japanese, I am unable to identify if it has a face insert or what that material might be. Can anyone shead light onto this question? I know that they will not be available until June 07', however I wonder what the main difference is between these forgiving TS woods compaired to the ViQ series from Bridgestone? Any help would be appreciated on this topic. Also saw new golf balls listed for those interested... Respectfully, Kent
July 11, 200717 yr Hi, Kent. I am also very interested in tour stage but I can't find any reviews about it. Can you advise what the address is of the tour stage site you took a look at? I recently purchased a driver VIQ and love it. I am now interested in their fairway metals and hybrids. Edited July 11, 200717 yr by marivi
July 11, 200717 yr The X-Drive GR is suppose to bridge the gap between the X-Drive and ViQ series. The ViQ is the most forgiving line, then the new X-Drive GR and lastly the original X-Drive.
July 12, 200717 yr the tourstage x-drive gr driver face is made out of "super active titanium". its the same material they've used for the past x-drives. as for the x-drive gr...supposedly from what i've gathered reviewers in japan are calling it a "hard spec" viq driver.

July 12, 200717 yr Here's the info. A shallower more flattened out head for more forgiveness and easier to get the ball up in the air... not as easy as the ViQ to hit but easier than the regular X-Drive:
July 13, 200717 yr I have this driver, it is shafted with a Fuji speeder 661 (S) Face is noticeably more shallow compared to the X-Drive (2007) Much more forgiving than the X Driver. Very easy to hit, and hit long. I am comparing that to an X-drive 9.5* shafted with Axiv-v 6070 (S) I would have no problem recommending this Driver to anyone.
July 13, 200717 yr i always liked the feel of the x-drive series. but the older models were always too demanding for my swing. (xst, xdrivefw) i hope this one does the trick. 808 Did you get one? I thought nothing was going to knock the Hyper ERC out of your bag T?
July 13, 200717 yr I'm looking forward to trying the GR fairways out. 808, I'll let the guru answer, but I've checked Callaway Japan's site with some regularity, along with Japanese magazines at random, and have seen no info about an ERC Hyper fairway wood, just the continuation of the ERC Hot (which does look nice though).
July 13, 200717 yr hey 808 how would you compare the x-drive 460 to the hyper erc driver? btw kent...i play the x-01r4 golf ball. plays similar to the pro v1x. i was looking to try the x-01g4 since its supposed to be sofer than the x-01r4 in feel. maybe i'll be able to get a few boxes next time i go to japan =).
