dcfas
Hi folks, I was just wondering about the black J's on Ebay. They are gorgeous though I'm not sure if I would like a black finish performance wise. What I'd like to know about is the weight. The description indicates that they are "heavy heads." What is the effect of increasing this weight-- D1 to D2? Thanks, dcfas

+TourSpecGolfer
Is the description "heavy heads" a reference to the black finish? Thanks again, dcfas Not at all, heavy means the weights of the head. because the std length is .25" shorter than U.S spec they had to make all type J heads heavier to reach D2 a quarter of an inch short. Thank you! I'm down to the PRGR TM 900's and the Epon J's, I think (maybe the Tourstage X CB). There is very little commentary on the PRGR's other than the fact that most folks seem to consider them highly. The pix seem to indicate more offset than the J's, and they also look larger, overall. Am I seeing this correctly? The black J's, once again, look absolutely gorgeous.

EVeryone is doing it here so take a risk as long as it is JDM.

My experience, however, is that trying the best JDM equipment is a very expensive exercise, with one lucky to recapture 60% of cost for the privilege of hitting a few balls and reselling here (or on Ebay for that matter). I would take the Black J but I already own a set of S and not sure whether I have the game for a type J although it seems to be the easiest of blade like irons. I have never go into a piece of equipement thinking how much I can recover at the resale. If you do that, you would never buy anything (around here.) I have the Type J's, Pro II's and the Type X's. FWIW, if you can handle the S's, you can handle the J's, and get a more "solid" strike, particularly with the short irons. I don't find that much difference in "forgivability" in any of the three strangely enough. I do hit it in the middle of the club face most times, but still, not much difference. ]

A little over a year ago I might have simply bought them. Alas, I got married! I have been relegated, it would seem, to an allowance at this point. I just spent a couple hundred on refitting my MP-14's and the Misses feels they will now have to do until the end of the season. The fact is, the more I demo the more I realize my clubs kick ***. They're ten years old, though, and I want something new and something smoking-- not nice, ok, capable, blah, blah, blah. I want a set of irons that exude quality and craftsmanship. I want a set which is better than the Mizuno MP-14's; a set I can attack pins with for another ten years, while I still can. Like I said, it's going to be the J's, the PRGR's, or the Tourstage CB's. Unless somebody can convince me otherwise. =)

Duffer, Can you tell me please how you feel about the PRGR's? They are aesthetically a killer-- can't miss them in your bag, I imagine. Feel, leading edge, swing weight, workability, forgiveness? Thanks in advance. d

PRGR was the preimere brand in Japan a few years ago or until taken over by TS and the like. It is making a come back with many players irons and drivers. Sorry I cannot tell you anything about current stuff but never hear anything bad about them especially the players irons.
