So for all of you who love the Roddio wood shafts, Roddio has now released their new iron shafts, featuring their Pentacross Nanotechnology. With two models available and made to have all the benefits of graphite combined with the accuracy and dispersion of steel, Roddio aims to bring iron graphite technology to the next level.

For those who prefer heavier shafts, Roddio has the I-10 Pentacross Iron shaft. Only available with S or SX Flex and weighing in at 105 for S and 107 for SX. Mid kickpoint and torques of 2.4 for S and 2.3 for SX.

The lightweight model is called the I-8 Pentacross Iron shaft and is available in SR and S. 82g for SR and 83g for S with mid kickpoints and progressive torque across the shafts, 3.7-3.0 for the SR and 3.5-2.8 for the S.

Great thing is you can easily soft step, hard step, tip trim to achieve desired stiffness/softness. Personally I will be softstepping an SR set to my liking. (^_^)

Gocchin,

I assume since they can be hard or soft stepped these are a taper tip product?

Hi T,

Thank's for the info! I'm surprised that they are a 0.37 tip, but with someone knowledgeable doing the assembly, I'm sure they will come out great. I'm looking forward to a review :tsg_smiley_question: .

K, I actually am too, I was also expecting the axiv's to be taper but they weren't but they still worked out fine. The Tour AD graphite are indeed taper though...

The Tour AD Pro... older, but that is one shaft that would give the new Roddio a serious run for the money for me. I like the mid/high to high kick on the Tour AD Pro because it seems to keep the ball down well, but the shafts still feel very smooth.

I was also a bit surprised that the heavier I-10 Roddio is only a mid kick, but I'm guessing with the spec and target market that it should still allow for good control of one's trajectory.

Find the Tour AD plays the stiffest to flex so far. The axiv's are very smooth but if the Roddio irons can kick like the driver shaft, which is by far the best shaft I have ever used than Roddio has another winner!!

Well, T, I was going to have the E500's reshafted with the Axiv's, but decided to play a month or two with the stock Mizuno graphite shafts. Glad I waited, because if your review of the Roddio iron shafts is good, I will probably try those instead!

Tour AD, at least the irons shafts, normally play stiffer to flex and more suited for better and faster swing players. On the other hand, AXIV would be more suited to your present level. I would definitely think twice if I were you switching to a Roddio iron shafts (regardless of how sexy it looks) as I suspect it would be for more advance players.

I have no plans to switch to the Roddio at the moment. I'm very happy with the Axiv's and he Roddio's don't have a model in a weight that I would like. I wish I actually had the 558 Axiv shafts instead of these 758's... I like light.

I only play the Tour AD in my wedges...

Perhaps we should talk since I am not using the 558ml R flex on my Matsu at the moment. I am hitting my Type S really well.

:tsg_smilie_laugh:

these i-10 are awesome.

i might never go back to steel.

@105g the roddio shaft feels almost like lightweight steel.

similar to a ns950 or dgsls300.

a super set of shafts , if you can find them.

.......the irons arent bad either.........

Guys,

I have talked about the Roddio I-10s for some time now. Likely I will install them in a set of Epon AF-301s on order now! Search around for the thread.

MY PICTURES SUCK!

it doesnt show the real beauty of the shafts.

i will use a better camera, so everyone can see the finer details of the i-10 shafts.

my blurry pics just dont do it justice.

on the roddio website , it shows what the actual shafts look like.

the ribbed weaveing pattern on the butt end and near the logo are so COOL!

i-10 105g

i-8 83g

i-6 6?g

pics to come .

and a full review.

I have tried to by single shafts for my wedges, but Chris said it isn't possible. I think this is due to a minimum order that wpuld be required. I have also checked around, but I can't find a source. Any ideas?

Someopme needs to buy the Roddio wedge shafts NOW!

Hey T? :tsg_smilie_laugh:

any one play a graphite shaft in their wedges?

how does it compare to steel?

i would think it might feel a little light............???

cool

T

T, I have played graphite in my wedges in the past (Loomis Tour shafts and Yonex in the PM wedges). Heavier graphite can be very stout, to say the least. I think the Tour AD Pro in S or X would work well for someone coming from a DG S300 or even X100, although they are a bit lighter.

To answer another poster's question about the Tour AD Pro, they are still up on the Graphite Design Japan website, and I haven't heard/read about them being cancelled. If I can get my swing back in order in the next few weeks I will try to do a comparo while I am in Japan :tsg_smiley_secret: .
