alpha_pro
so far the best driver that has been working for me is the cleveland hibore xl tour in 9.5* with the fuji red shaft in stiff. the only problem is that its a cleveland. what are some import drivers with extremely low spinning heads. an axiv-v shaft will more than likey be going into it. thanks, d
+TourSpecGolfer
It would be the Tourstage 460P for least spin possible, but low spin for the average golfer usually isn't a good thing. Guys with very high club head speeds usually get a straighter flight from a driver like the that. Spin is needed to obtain max distance there are many factors that can be contributing to your need to decrease spin, if its a wayward ball flight u may want to look into the swing. In my case and my 99-105 swing speed I found even the lowest spin drivers with my #1 shaft are much shorter and lower than higher spin clubs i have tried the same combo in. Do you slice the ball or Hook it? Whats going there?
alpha_pro
hehe, well i developed a really bad hooking problem! thats the reason for trying out the tour version. i realize its mainly a bad case of flipping my wrists over and getting too quick though. out of all the new US domestic drivers the xl was the only one that got my spin down around 3000 and with the 9.5* head, launch angle was around 15* if i remember correctly. everything else in 9.5* was launching at 17-20* and were spinning 4000+. distance on the vector was much better with the xl as well. the other thing i noticed is that i hit my 3 wood soo much better than my driver, maybe i should try a smaller driver head and have the same swing weight as my 3 wood (d5.5)?? or maybe i should just be happy with the cleveland. PGAPro
bro, if you have trouble spinning the ball too much and hooking it, then you have the best head in golf, there isn't a driver out there better suited for those particular needs than the XL Tour head, when you get the Axiv I sent you, just stick that anti hook shaft in there and you will have a weapon, that Axiv is hard to hook with that Cleveland Tour combo, I think you will love it

Blader-X
All great suggestions but I think you might be on to something when you say that you're much straighter with the heavier 3 wood. Once you put the AxivV in if you're still hooking it a bit, try weighting the driver head in the toe area. I just know from personal experience that too light a head is hook city for myself. Keep us informed of how it goes.
gus
I've had good luck with my PRGR T3 Black. I shafted it with an Axis and its ballflight and shape is spot on. My miss is a hook as well. A lot of times the hook stems from lifting the clubhead to quickly in the take away. Try pretending that you have a catcher behind you and make sure you drag the clubhead back along the ground until it wants to lift into the catchers mit. I'm guessing this tip might help you out as it did me. Edited June 5, 2007 by BigBen
alpha_pro
thinking of trying a callaway erc 3 out. i have hit one in the past but the shaft was way too much for me being an x flex. I couldnt get any insight into the driver with that shaft. hows the spin with this head with a mid/high kick shaft in it? might pick one up because they are fairly cheap down here for around 350-400 like new. also how do the older tourstage x-drives like the 405 or 435 perform in the spin category. im really considering going to a smaller head. i might even try a on/off 405. gus
This tip from my pro really helped me. It makes sense if you think about it; steep equals out to in or a flip.
alpha_pro
well, axiv v-7072 is in the xl tour now. the dispersion and control became soooo much better. that and it being installed at 44.75 inches. i have also tried keeping the head lower and taking it straighter back on the backswing. it helped somewhat but with my normal swing and now with the axiv, the ball will draw nicely but not hook. i can swing out of my shoes and the ball will not hook!! im really impressed with the 7072. i originally tried the 6066, but that was way to weak for me. only thing now is to find one for my 3 wood, like a 8076 or a 8072. if anybody has one lying around please PM me....... thanks to PGAPRO for the deal, even though i had to sacrifice my custom gauge wedge.
