ajaykkr
Since I put the Epon 13.5* with GD quattro 75s, I have been hitting drives averaging 250-260 yards with the 3 wood....with some longer..... My driver is not that much longer, maybe 20 yards or so...with the ocassional longer drive...but I feel that I have significantly less accuracy with the driver... The loft difference between the two clubs is 2*. The other major difference is the 3 wood is 43* and the driver is 45". Since I get a mid-to-high flight with both clubs.... I started wondering that if I put in a shaft in the driver that was say 43.5", am I likely to experience more accuracy with more forgiveness (driver head is probably 2.5-3 times the 3 wood).... with maybe 270-280 yard distance... I know people do play with 44.5*, but has anybody experimented with 43 or 43.5" shafts in the driver and if so what were the results. do you still play with it? I really like 44" drivers for that very reason. Its easier to keep the ball in the short grass by far. This is indeed the reason why Tour players use shorter length drivers.
