Spoon
guys im a novice golfer with a 20somthing ish handycap and have been concentrating on my shortgame to drop the strokes, been experimenting with different wedges piny eye2+, mb tours, swords, clevelands etc. finally decided to treat myself to a 56/60 epon x combo. question is choosing the right shaft. im either thinking of the nspro 1050,1150 or the TT wedge flex or even s200. my current players are a 56 cleveland 588 dsg and 58 Titleist spin milled both in TT dynamic gold shaft. ive gotten comfy with this weight and is the standard for me. what is the equivalent of this weight in Nspros? also i dont quite know my swing style as i havent been playing long enough to get a good gauge. would even considering the Black gold shafts be a bit too much? got about 4 hours to decide on what shaft to order. thanks in advance

This might be hard however because by the looks of it you had some fairly exotic irons - likely to have exotic shafts. At the moment I have Rifle 5.5s in my wedges. This is because my old irons had Rifle 6.0s in them. I rarely hit full shots with my wedges so it seemed smart to go with something slightly weaker in flex in my wedges. Lighter shafts may send the ball higher(ns1050,1150,s200) and alow you to feel the club head more in your swing, heavier shafts might send the ball lower (s300,s400) and feel shaftier in you swing. idrive
Howdy, What is the SS of your driver?? I know a couple of us have the TT Black Gold Shafts in our EPON wedges. The ones that are reporting back love the combination. It's the only way I would go. I thought the nspro 1150's were a heavy shaft.... I thought the nspro 1150's were a heavy shaft.... swingspeed? not quite there yet:) il take a LMT when my swing is more consistent. yeah i was considering the black golds but it might be too much for me. as for the nspro 1150, they are about 109 grams for the regular. my clevelands were shafted with TT dynamic gold roughly around 124-127grams. for now im bent on the nspro 1050 stiff. those black golds are creeping in though
idrive
FWIW I can tell you that I have the Copper X-wedges in both the TT Black Golds and the NSPro1150's. Stiff shaft in both. For me the TT's are much better. I'm a bit worried you're buying clubs with out being fitted properly first.... IMHO... you shouldn't buy a club until you at least know your SS, among other things... If your not ready for a LM session then i would suggest getting the 1150, or S400, or Shimada AC-10 100. When you get fitted for length, lie, and optimal swing weight you can have them adjusted then. Blader-X
There's something about the Black Gold by True Temper which is just majical in a wedge. Tremendous amounts of feel. I really believe the feel in enhanced by them. Having said that however, I really believe that you need to know your game and swing very well before making that judgement. If you're unsure then I would follow Chris's advice above and stay with standard shafts. On the other hand, there's never a better time than the present to experiment a little and see if there isn't something a little better for you out there. As long as you're willing to accept spending a little money if your first choice doesn't work out you just might make a welcome discovery about your game.
