EPON 13.5 with RODDIO - Inital Thoughts

Today I received my new Epon 13.5 with Roddio W7BA S flex built by Chris. Here are my initial thoughts from the driving range.

ME - Currently play Epon 10.5 driver, square, with Roddio W6BA SR flex.

Looks - No doubt that Roddio makes the coolest looking shafts around. Bar none, nothing else close. Epon is pure class. Head is super clean, superbly shaped and for me has a nice depth for hitting of the tee and deck. Just plain perfect.

Feel - Chris set this up after speaking with me about my driver Roddio setup. The W7BA doesn't come in a SR flex so he trimmed the tip, etc. to it to make it play like SR. Feel of the Epon head is super solid. I wouldn't call it soft, but smooth solid. Hope you know what I mean. Shaft may be slightly stiff for me, but without hitting it on the course with good balls, I am not sure yet.

Performance - Good swings are rewarded by a low-mid boring shot. Very penetrating ball flight with quite a bit of roll. I was very surprised with the roll when hit from the deck. I didn't hit from a tee, but I bet this is a monster. Carry distance for me was about 210 with 20-25 yards in roll. I am sure that a tee would bring out some great things. Keep in mind that my carry was probably hurt by the driving range mat and the crappy range balls. I would bet 15 yards more on the course with good balls.

Overall - I can't wait to play on the course. As I love my Roddio/Epon driver, I am expecting great things with this club.

welcome to the club... downside is you will use your driver less and less.... I use it only on three holes. its 3 wood on all others now.... the certainity of a 240-260 yards in the fairway versus 270-290 yard shot that may not be in the short stuff, this one rolls...

also, get the 5 wood...its as good.

Since using the 13.5 off the tee my scores have improved, Its never as fun hitting a FW from the tee box but the proof is in the pudding and because of the success I have had with the Epon spoon I have decided to tweak my Technica 380cc so it plays in similar fashion.
