Goshinboku
There is a pretty extensive bag check for the JPGA, LPGA, and JLPGA in this edition of Golf Style, so if there are any particular players anyone is looking for please let me know. Now on to the good stuff, for those of you who have wedge-itis like I do, looking for the obscure one of Japanese brands, like grind studio, zodia, etc. MTI wedges seem to be sweeping the JPGA, it doesnt seem to matter what staffer you are, bridgestone tourstage, srixon, tm japan these wedges are everywhere. Pics are coming up below, as well I will get a couple pics from the magazine in the next day or so of these as well. As well as some other intereting pics. Tadd Fujikawa's sweet fourteen wedges and cut down cameron have a full page. One thing I did notice and maybe Chris or Gocchin have more info on it, but when did Toshi Izawa go to Titelist? He has the full kit 907 D2 driver, fw', 670 irons, vokeys, and a belly cameron putter. Not to metion his clothes deal is with under armour. He was one I pegged as a bridgestone staffer for life. Ok back to the wedges, there appears to be two types; a type S and a type D, with the type S in far more bags, these are the only pics I have as of now, but more will come later, both from the magazine and if I can stumble across some more info on them, like I said above it just amazes me how many JPGA pro's are playing these no matter what company they are endorsing, its bizzare to see tourstage staffers without the new '07 x-wedges in the bag, or any previous tourstage offerings. gocchin
Yeah Izawa who has had two real down years with Tourstage seems to have made the jump, at least equipment wise to Titleist. This happened about 4 months ago. He still seems to be under partial clothing sponsorship with Tourstage though along with his under amour gig. Let me know if you need any help scanning. I have monthly subscriptions to Golf Digest Japan, Waggle, Golf Gear, Golf Style, and Choice. (^_^)
rexwrx
See this thread for further MTI wedge pics. I brought it up earlier- but there seemed to be very little interest. http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/index.php?showtopic=24480 Edited June 20, 2007 by rexwrx
Goshinboku
I didnt even notice your post about these, my apologies. the company behind these I believe goes by COOL designs. that is all i know really, I was shocked to see just how many different players no matter what brand they are signed to playing these wedges. pics are on the way, of Ai's studio bettinardi sb-5, as well as some other pics of interest
gocchin
The MTI wedge from Cool Design is still a Tour Only wedge unavailable to the public. It's had strong tour presence since last season when many Tourstage and Srixon staffers began carrying them.
+TourSpecGolfer
Poor Izawa, He used to be the man, I remember when he was top dog and Tourstage used to Issue Izawa wedges like they did for Maru. I think he is a Titleist man right now.
