xxio
TSG, What are Gold's plans now that GD/G-Field is closed? IIRC he was getting some of the heads from them?
gocchin
TSG,What are Gold's plans now that GD/G-Field is closed? IIRC he was getting some of the heads from them? Sasaya-san has pretty much operated seperately from GD/G-field all along so no change.... he will continue making awesome putters and tuning occasional Gauges that he was involved with tuning or modding in the past. His heads don't come from GD as far as I know.
Goshinboku
how do you get a clean sole like that? i thought they all came with private stock no 1 or 2 and then golds factory stamped on the sole like you see.

Goshinboku
Sky's the limit for Gold's putters my friend... can be anything you want! so when you order a stock no1 or no2, you can request clean sole? going by the pics here in the pro shop and on his own site i just figure they came this way and then you added the stamping you wanted. kinda like the G in the cavity pocket. so these putters actually start out totaly blank? not a single stamp at all? that is music to my ears, as i am gonna submit mine to Chris in a day or so and figure i had to get the "stock" stamps so to say on top of what i wanted! Spoon
honestly i cant tel the difference from all of the Gold's putters except for the inserts and added customizations. i know there is a base unit to build your putter but after a certain stage of customomization arent the rest just gimmicks? i would like to hear from actual owners that tricked up there putters pls. In the golf industry almost everything is gimmick, but this is customization not technology here, stamping your name on a putter doesn't mean the ball will go in the hole more often. Blinker is an alignment tool. Tungsten weights prevent head twisting and increase head weight, Brass Pin instead of site dot makes the putter feel a little softer. Floating Slit Line gives the putter a different sound or feel at impact, a higher pitch. The Premium zone style insert helps end over end roll and gives off a different feel. Black Teflon or another finish can give off a slightly different feel and look based on preference. Thing is about Sasaya is his ability to hand craft these items 100% himself, he has no staff and you can be assured when you order a custom golds putter it is done by the man himself. First, let me say that I have just about every Cameron Putter out there and then some.. This includes a GSS Newport II exactly like Tigers. I have a SSS Newport Beach that Scotty made for me. My customized Golds Putter with the Premium Zone Insert is the best Putter I have ever rolled a ball with. I am Putting better than I ever have. This has been noticed by everyone that I play with. My confidence grows every time I play with this Putter. 27 Putts yesterday... EPON wedges are a part of that as well. When I miss the green I'm chipping the ball right next to the hole. "3 putt" is no longer a part of my vocabulary. As I have mentioned before in the forum, there is nothing like having a Putter in your hand that has been made for you, your specs, your personal design, by the Master. I have NEVER been so pleased with any Product before. Edited July 1, 2007 by idrive
Blader-X
It is the Ultimate in customization. I think this may have to be my next project, but its going to have to wait some time.

Totally agree -- 100%. Having been behind the ropes for many years this is true. Chris -- are these for sale yet? : ) I may need to switch to the Gold's Factory staff. +TourSpecGolfer
Yes this one is for sale, drop me a PM if interested. There is only one of these at this moment, we can order another but it would be 1-2 months.

Goshinboku
Can they make center shafted newport 2 model type putters? While I think the question is probably better answered by TSG or Gocchin, I do believe Sasaya-San does do complete custome jobs, but then you are getting in the thousands of dollar range. ClubHoUno
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm amazed at what Master Sasaya can do with his putters.......truly amazed What kind of finish is this exactly and are all 3 photos of the same putter with the same finish or is the finish different: UPDATE !! I now see from the papers under the putter in the last pi, that the finish is called Soft Black - is that a stainless steel finish or a carbon steel finish or maybe it can be applied to both materials ? I want a Golds Factory putter in double aged stainless steel finish of the highest most durable quality possible - and if I could have a some what darker strong durable finish applied to it, it would be awesome :) Edited November 28, 2007 by Claus
