Axiv vs. Axiv-V Flex Comparison

I'm looking at getting either the Axiv or Axiv-V. Is anyone able to comment on whether the flexes in both ranges are similar - or does one range play stiffer in comparison to the other? For example, the V-7068 is classed as a 6.8 Stiff/Reg, whereas something like the 6568 or 7568 is stated as being a 6.8 but a straight Stiff.

Can someone also explain why the V-7068 and the normal Axiv XX68 line can have the same flex number but vastly different cpms - 265 versus 279?

I've been told that my ~95mph (240 yards) aggressive transition swing can handle the 7568, but I'm slightly sceptical given that I've seen many posts from people with 110+mph swings saying that they can't overpower this shaft. Would the V-7068 be more realistic - if it is at all softer in flex? Ideally I would prefer a heavier shaft though.

you kinda have it backwords... the 1st two numbers are the weight of the shaft and the second two numbers are the cpm(relative stiffness)---i.e: 7068= 70 grams shaft and 6.8cpm....

for reference I play 7072 V series in a ft-5 fit (ss=110-115)as good as any shaft I have ever played...does it take the left side out of play as claimed? for the most part, of course there are exceptional days - but those are operator error.

I would whole heartedly recomend the V series of the std. its just such a great shaft for me- I would say much firmer through out without feeling boardy- its pretty silky smooth(kinda the way you thought the diamana would have felt before you actually tried one--- but this is the BEST Diamana you have every played in my boook- if that makes sense.. hopefully others will pipe in..)

If you need a higher ballflight and more carry- go with the std axiv, if you need a more penatrating ballflight which will max. out carry and roll go with the V series.

And always play the Softest shaft you can control!

A couple of interesting points here:

1) The Axivs are still very good shafts

2) Get the best advice available as to which one suits you the best

The advice given has been to go with the V-7068. I've read that the V-series plays a little softer compared to the regular Axiv line. This would explain my Mamiya-OP describe the V-7068 as a Stiff/Regular and the 6568 a straight Stiff.

Do you think I could handle the V-7068 with my ~95mph swing speed and aggressive transition? Anyone played this model or similar models with roughly the same swing speed?

Thanks!

I got my clubfitter who swings 102-105mph consisently a 7068 and he felt it was just right and he can NOT overpower it. He can however take it 300yards pretty straight. Offtheback gave good advice I always use. Go for the softest shaft you can control... if it's too soft at least you can learn to control it. If it's too stiff there's not much you can do about it.

If your bad shot is a hook and you're determined to go with the close to 70g weight then get the V 7068. From what I've seen with the V Spec is that dispersion is so good that the range of flex that a person can use is pretty wide... it will all come down to personal preference and feel. My fitter took the 7068 even though it's an SR and he could probably easily hit the 7072 or higher. He likes the slightly softer feel of the 7068 for his swing speed.
