jacksonlui
Hi, My 5 iron length is 37.75 inches, D2 swingweight which is pretty standard. The other irons are in increments of 0.5 inches, EXCEPT for the PW which is only 0.25 inches less than the 9 iron. Depending on the mfg, they are either 0.5 or 0.25. Anyways, these lengths are good. I'm confused what the lengths of my other clubs be since I have a mixed bag. Driver = 45 inches, D2, 9.5 degrees (Titleist D2) 3Wood = 43.5 inches, D2, 15 degrees (Titleist 960F) 4 Hybrid = 39.5 inches, D2, 23 degrees (Tourstage X-UT) 52 wedge = 35.65 inches, D4, 52 degrees (CG10) 56 wedge = 35.00 inches, D2, 56 degrees (Fourteen J-Spec) 60 wedge = 35.40 inches, D6, 60 degrees (CG10) Can someone help me on proper flowing lengths for the entire set. For example, the wedges is a mix of cleveland and fourteen. The lengths are very different as are the swingweights. The woods and hybrids don't seem to make sense, etc.. thanks Jack

The only other variable I've encountered has been some players have their clubs 1" over to maintain proper lofts and SW's, and maybe due to their height. jacksonlui
wow, with all this knowledge on the forums, no one knows the proper lengths for woods in a set?
Cameron
Your 3 wood is standard. Sometimes you see 44" as in the Callaway X-hot. Hybrids are all over the map. I personally prefer them to be relatively close to the iron they replace. Your wedges are mixed up, in weight and length, obviously. Very few wedges go under 35 inches. I'd weight everything from the Lob as heaviest at D-4 to D-6. Progress to D-2 to D-1 from the 9 to the 3 iron. D2 is pretty good for all the woods. Keep your grips all the same. Hope this helps. SingleDG
wow, with all this knowledge on the forums, no one knows the proper lengths for woods in a set? Proper has become a variable with woods... standard steel is one length, graphite another. Graphite vary's too; depending on skills and desire. I have a 4wd that's 43"; the length of a graphite 3wd. Your 3 wood does seem a little long at 43.5" but if its working for you so be it. All of your clubs are within the range of "standard lengths", with maybe the 56 wedge being a little off since its shorter than your 60, but again it all depends upon how its working in your game. Myself all my irons are one inch over standard even though if you were to measure me to fit me to length of club, I would fall into the standard category or even one-half inch less due to my long arms. However, shorter clubs don't "feel" right to me. My 3 wood I had made at 43.25", my driver is now 45". My current utility is standard for the moment as its new to the bag and I'm still getting accostumed to it, however its working so no need to change. As far as swingweights, I go heavy. My irons range from D6 to D10.5, my wedges are E2-E4. I like heavy clubs and these work perfect for me. My bag at this moment is as perfect as its ever been at any point in time. In addition, just about all my clubs are 2-3 degrees flat. If your clubs seem off when you're playing then try some different lengths to see if it gets better. If everything is fine and you're just concerned it may not be so called "standard", then quit being concerned and just play. It really comes down to what works personally for you and your game. It does take some trial and error but over time you'll find what fits you best.
Phillip Alexander
A club fitter is a good place to start in terms of the legth that suits you the best. Swing weight of course is more of a feel thing. As we all know....experimenting is fun!!
