Henry
I just played in a golf invitational tournament held at a local club and was paired with two Callaway Golf Reps. Since I play with an ERC Hyper Driver and X fairway woods, I was intrigued by what they would think and say about my clubs. After our introductions, I showed them my clubs. One rep did not even realize his company produced these clubs and showed little interest in them. I know the reason is $$$$ but I was kind of surprised of the lack of interest in my beauties. The other rep did show some interest, took a good look at the clubs and "authenticated" them by showing me the seriel numbers listed on them. He said that Callaway USA will not ever show these clubs to them. Both reps had little interest in hitting these clubs or asking me questions on how I got them. I find it kind of funny that $$$ appears to be the driving force behind reps and what they show and sell. I am proud to be part of this great web site and know more about clubs than most people!! Thank you TSG!
Forte
Maybe both reps are John Doe's who just work 9-5 to get paid.
Goldenhawk
If you look at the USGA approved list of driver heads, there is a driver listed called the Callaway EL 460 that has the Hyperbolic Face Technology. This will probably be the cheaper US release of the Hyper ERC. To cheapen the driver, the US version will probably be forged in China, instead in Endo Japan. Then a cheaper shaft will need to be installed. The Callaway reps will acknowledge the existence of the EL 460 since it will replace the X460 driver. idrive
Some of the most "dull" people in the golf business I have met are the factory reps. I don't know a group of people that are more unaware of the industry they are in than they are. I have yet to figure it out. I guess you need to own a discount store willing to buy a ton of their products and give them away.
