Blader-X
Can anyone compare playability, feel, performance of the GD Quattro Tech verus the PT Series.Say QT 85 vs. PT8.......QT 75 vs PT7. Specs "look" somewhat similar! I have the QT85 in an Epon 3 wood and the PT-8 in a G-Field 4 wood. Both shafts are first rate and you can't go wrong with either. For me I prefer the QT85 as I feel it supports the swing better throughout. Both are solid through the ball but where they differ is the kickpoint. You can really feel the right where the kickpoint is in the PT8, exactly in the middle. In fact, when you swing through it feels like the shaft is assuming an "L" shape. The QT85 has more of a flowing "bend" to it. I love both shafts and have hit both very, very well. For me, the trajectories are about the same (piercing, low to low-mid) but I believe that to be a result of a shallow swing plane and not so much the shafts contributing to the flight. Also, can't really compare directly as the heads are different as well as the lofts. Dispersion is about equal, but I give a slight advantage to the QT85. Distance I would say is equal between the two, but then again can't compare directly due to the different characteristics of the two clubs. For me, the QT85 edges out the PT8 based on the feel it gives me. However, both are great and you can't go wrong with either, IMO.
TBone
Blader, Thanks for the detailed comparison....greatly appreciated. I been playing the QT 85 in a 3 wood for the last few rounds. I'm actually hitting it a bit on the high side....my plane is a little steeper. The QT feels a bit "loose" in the tip...it probably isn't, just a different feel than I'm use to -- played Fuji Pro 95 in 3 wood last few years. I'll give a few more rounds and range time. Sounds like the PT Series would not be for me. Thanks again!

It used to be my nemisis and something my teacher and I have worked on for years. I'm really sold on the fact that a shallower swing plane is the way to go due to the fact that you have a lot more leeway for error in the swing. You can get away with mis**ts better with a shallower swing than a steeper one. However, with the PT-8 and its bend profile, it really feels like the shaft loads strongly into the ball. If you do decide to try the PT series, please lets us all know how it goes for you.

Thanks again! the QT has a low kickpoint,,, when you come steeper, you dont help... its likely to kick the ball up in the air. the PT-8 willwork better... for reference, i have the Qt75s in an epon 13.5* and the pt-7 in the gfield 3 wood.... the epon goes relatively higher (even though the gfield has a shallower face)...... its the shaft kickpoint

TBone
Yep! PT series is mid kick point. I wonder why the PT's have not been introduced to the US Market?
