Thinking of getting an FT-5 with this shaft, but what little feedback I have heard on the Rombax shafts are they are for a quicker tempo and are pretty straight but not great distance shafts. I like the ZCOM Six, but would like something a bit tighter.

Thinking of getting an FT-5 with this shaft, but what little feedback I have heard on the Rombax shafts are they are for a quicker tempo and are pretty straight but not great distance shafts. I like the ZCOM Six, but would like something a bit tighter. Although I've never played the 5X07, based on what Fujikura says on their website http://www.fujikuragolf.com/ - it's a mid -kp - which isn't for quicker tempo's IMO. I have a quick tempo and aggressive transistion and played Fujikura mid-hi-kp VP 80's for a long time. Now have a FT-5 tour issue head with a Whiteboard 73 (S) no tipping. Most quicker tempoed players I've encountered go with heavier shafts, either mid-high or high kick point, stiff tips, AND low TQ shafts seeking max distance but not without considering dispersion. I'd give away 10-20yds to insure I am in the fairway as often as my swing will allow. the ZCOM SIX has stats that appear fitting for someone with a standard tempo and somewhat slower SS. So, am I to understand your right ... you're looking for a shaft you can hit far and you don't care about dispersion?
August 6, 200717 yr Author comment_138904 Yup, looking for distance - swing speed in the upper 90's, mid tempo. Have had some success w/ Diamana Blue & Red, Speeder 652, 869 & Six and VS Proto 70. Of course, keeping it close to the fairway means something...
August 8, 200717 yr comment_139001 Hi, I have just fitted Rombax 5X07 flex R on my FT5. The old shaft was Fit On 150 flexR. My swing speed is 92 with smooth tempo. By putting the Rombax on I reduced the total weight to 305G, which is a lot easier for me to swing, I also use a 44G grip. The swing weight was up a bit to D2.4, and the length is 44.75. The club is now a lot easier to swing, I can hit a bit longer on mis**t, on good hit it can go up to about 240 carry. Now my average drive on my home course is about 245 yards ( carrry+ roll), and solid good hit could go up to 265. The Rombax is amazing, the ball go up on a nice trajectory, no ballon, but for a hard hitter it may hook , I tried to really go after it a few time and it will hook every single time , my fastest speed is 97. Anyway I am not a club tester, so I can only give information on what I think and feel, it could be totally wrong. I just want to say I love the shaft, it gave me a little more distance, stay in the fairways more often, and give me pleasing trajectory, and I also will put another one on my Rapture soon.

Thank you for your feedback, sounds like the shaft has nice feel with good control.
August 11, 200717 yr comment_139159 solid shaft. not sure it will be THAT much of difference from the SIX.. 6 is a real tried and true winner.. played the 6xo6 and really like.. burner tp with ine and i get a nice mid launch with good control.. tighter feel or control >. 6wo6 may be the ticket..
August 14, 200717 yr Author comment_139328 The 6W06 is stiffer tip and lower flight than 6X07. Just got the 5x07 in a Tour Issue FT-5 10.5 head, nice combo. Mid to high ball flight w/ good carry and feel. Somewhat similar to the Six except tighter dispersion - maybe the w series has less spin more rollout?
