Posted August 23, 200717 yr hi, I have the Epon driver and I know that it's forged and feels fantastic. Does anyone know if the X-Drive is forged as well? I was thinking of selling the Epon 9.5 since I still hit it high with the ion whiteboard installed for the XDrive. perhaps the Epon head is a high launching head? can I play with any lead tape placement to lower the launch? please advise. thanks jackson
August 23, 200717 yr *Edit I have a 10.5 EPON shafted with a Roddio W-6BA SR, and one with a Axiv-v 7072 S. Both of these are producing excellent ball flight (mid). NO ballooning. I have always hit a 8.5 or 9.5 lofted driver, First time ever for a 10.5* I'm not sure if the X-drive is forged. I can't find anywhere that it says it is. August 23, 200717 yr The X-Drive is all Titanium. Jack the epon is a higher launching head. My clubfitter is hitting an Epon 9.5 as well and found it too high launching with a Whiteboard. He switch to an Axiv V and problem solved. I followed Blader X's advice on that as the V-Spec also made his trajectory with the 9.5 Epon optimal. The Epon is a fantastic head, just find the right shaft.
August 23, 200717 yr Author thanks for the info. I'm just very surprised that the whiteboard would launch so high, even with a high launching head. I already spent a lot on this combo and not sure I should search. What do you think of the XDrive with the whiteboard? Would that be a lower launching combo? thanks for your advice Jack
August 23, 200717 yr My TS 460 X-drive with the Axiv-v Shaft has a very similar launch to the EPON. IMO, with the same shaft, their doesn't seem to be much noticeable difference in the trajectory. If their is the TS is SLIGHTLY lower. Edited August 23, 200717 yr by idrive
August 23, 200717 yr Author thanks, that advice will likely prevent me from trying the XDrive if there's no real benefit from veering away from the Epon head. I'll keep an eye out for a different shaft. I do like the whiteboard, i'll have to get on a launch monitor. Jack

August 23, 200717 yr Author besides price ;) having never played either, but from many hours of reading, I'd have a good guess that the Axiv plays or feels more stiff than Roddio in addition to Roddio having different shafts that "attempt" to take either the left or right out of play.

August 23, 200717 yr I'm currently testing the X Drive GR and the deep face with stock shafts. There is no indication they are forged but the feel of the deep face is fantastic. Not like the X Drive Prospec 390 that I have but better than the 405 and 435 IMHO.

Chris probably installed it at standard J-spec SR which may have been a little soft for you. For example my R flex W-5Ba just inserted into my epon without any adjustments CPM's out at 223 which is very soft with just a little adjustment as per Roddio Certified specs and it reaches 238CPM. Both the epon and X-drive are wonderful drivers. Can't go wrong with either Jack, but don't give up on the Epon so quickly especially if you like the feel!

August 28, 200717 yr I have the same swing speed a you and I love my X-Drive 10.5 WhiteBoard 73S combo. It is a mid launch with no ballooning and a nice rollout at the end. This setup for me is by FAR the longest I've ever had. Hope this helps, but what works for me doesn't mean it's right for you. Do your homework as there's not really any way to try before you buy on these set ups. Regards, Dan

There are a few frequency machine out there but the one I used yesterday was a Golf Works which I was told is usually 5 or 7 cycles higher than another old timer (cannot remember the name.) I seem to remember someone published a chart once for reference based on domestic shaft manufacturers but it is more trial and error on my part from playing with different shafts and see and record what works and what doesnt. CPM is based on head weight, length and to a small degree grip. Domestic regarlar is in the 240 range while JDM regular is more like 225 to 235. Typically it is one flex difference.
