Mjr. D
Just got my Bettinardi about 1hr ago. I've made about 150 putts thus far with it. So far, i'm a little surprised with the feel. I will admit i haven't been practicing my putting daily like i usually do but i still feel capable of fair judgement. With that being said, i find this putter to be the first Bettinardi i've ever tried to feel much more like a Scotty Cameron. That might be great news to some, perhaps not so great to others. I will say I personally prefer the Classic Bettinardi feel of the BB43 or BB2 or even the MC series, which are all as pure a feeling putter as i've ever experienced, but obviously Cameron's are no slouch and have their massive following as well. This 1st article Bettinardi feels very similar to my Scotty Cameron Newport Beach CS Proto. I find both putters slightly more difficult to nail the sweet spot with but definitely possess a nice feel upon finding it. Although this putter face does not use an insert, i find it quite similar to the Premium Zone...... which i've said before, i find slightly difficult to strike well. I find both of them to be a little finicky with regards to where the ball needs to be struck vertically on the face. HOWEVER, if you want.... and i'm not exaggerating when i say this.... the absolute, most accurate, point and steer, laser like putter Bettinardi's ever made (and in my opnion anyone, this includes, Premium Zones, Scotty, Ping, Odyssey, Guerin, Yes, Rife etc etc) this is the one to get. I'm not talking about forgivness here, obviously off center hits will scold you like with any heel toe weighted putter, but if you're anywhere around the sweet spot, this thing's rolling the ball more true than any putter, in my opinion, on the market period. This thing is sick in that regard. It's deadly deadly accurate. The "train track" crafting is very unique and beautiful looking. I can see how it must really grip and role the ball amazingly well. I'm actually surprised it's taken so long for companies to experiment with putter faces, because there is obviously a major advantage to having face grooves, train tracks etc. If you want the most accurate, purist rolling putter on the market today, i believe this is it. Bettinardi has gotten on to something really big here.
gocchin
Nice review Rob, thanks for the feedback. Similar sentiments as Chris on how well it rolls. Very accurate putter and a very unique milling. (^_^)
+TourSpecGolfer
Its a great putter, the feel is different, very soft, not sure if its the best putter I have ever used but it certainly is giving my Gold's Factory a run for the money. Its one of the top dawgs on the market IMO.
Mjr. D
Ya it's not my favorite putter, not even my favorite Bettinardi in terms of feel. But if i'm looking for the best spinning putter and most accurate putter i've ever used, this would be it.
idrive
I'll have to admit that "feel" is a huge part of Putting. HOWEVER... give me a Putter that rolls the ball better than another Putter and I'll take the better roll, more accurate Putter any day. I must admit I am anxious to put this Putter to the test. I haven't found anything that even comes close to knocking my Golds Factory out of the bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
