Diaman shaft weights, 63g versus 73g

You cannot duplicate the 73g exactly as that extra weight is spread out throughout the shaft but try placing 10 grams of lead tape around the shaft just below the grip. No mater where you stick it though will have consequences on the shaft's swing weight. I'll have to dig out the article I read on lead tape placement on the shaft and how it affects playability based on where it is placed.

I do not think it really work by placing lead tape inside the grip area. I had it done to 'counter-balance' the club so it would feel lighter in swing weight, i.e. from a D4 back down to a D1 or D0. To increase head weight, some people would use tungsten powder in the hosel but it really doesnt not mean the shaft is heavier, only the head feel.

Exactly R, that's why I told him to put it at the grip side, he's not trying to get the head to feel heavier... he is trying to mimic an increase in shaft weight. I'm just warning him that it will change swingweight (either way it would). And honestly it Jack, just adding lead tape won't make it perform like a 73g diamana, it'll just mess with overall weight and swingweight.

Thanks Gocchin,

I just wanted to see what a 73g would do for me since I'm using a 63g.

Oh btw.. You were right Gocchin, I kept the Epon and after giving it some time, I've lowered my ball flight and it's a nice balanced setup that's very forgiving with great feel. I have a Epon 3w coming in the mail with the Quattro 85.

thanks again,

Jackson

Jack, that's great to hear! Far too often have I seen people not give the Epon enough time and let it go. It is a very very different driver from any other I've ever tried, and those who have stuck with it and figured it out have been very happy. I even brought my 10.5 Epon trajectory down by flattening out my swing plane a bit which I find very useful to do when extremely windy.

I can't wait to try the Epon 3W and soon I'll have a set of Type S coming to complete my JDM bag. I'm having good luck with the X-UTs and probably going to keep my David Whitlam putter and Sun Mountain C-130 cart bag.

Sorry for changing my own topic.

Please let me know if you find that info on the lead tape placement. I can always learn more.

thanks

Jackson
