big terence
hi everyone, i just bought my first set of miura passing point and need help picking a set of shafts. To be honest, I have tried a lot of different shafts and I dont have a "favourite." I like them all I"m even considering graphite such as graphite design, mamiya, fuji and aerotech. Any suggestion? Nippon? PX? BG? DG? Oh, i'm a 10 handicap and my iron striking is ok. Thanks, Terence
Duffer19
Since you are a 10 and basically tried them all, you dont really need any help. Then again, you can experiement different shafts such as the new Shimada 7001 or go graphite with the new super expensive GD Tour AD 105 or 115. Initial reviews from Japan of the new tour ad have been great according to Gocchin. Edited November 5, 2007 by Duffer19
gocchin
Hi Terence, it would really help if you told us what kind of results you are looking for, like feel and ball trajectory and weight? That will really help narrow down the right shaft for you matched with these PP-9001's.
K2_2
Nice choice of irons, and as for shafts, there are plenty of options . As Gocchin said, if you can post some info about what you are after, that would be great. Also, information on iron swing speed and tempo might help the guys out a bit. big terence
thanks everyone... Speed I havent measured my 5I speed but i carry my 5I with DGS300 180 yards. Driver at 103 mph. Tempo mid tempo budget i guess around $30 USD / shaft. GD is great but i heard they are fairly expensive. Last night i was doing some research on aerotech and there has been great feedbacks. Weight i've been using DG/BG for 7 years but i also understand graphite shaft is a lot lighter. But having that said, arent there ~100g graphite shafts? Ball flight doesnt matter Consideration I live in rainy Vancouver, Canada where winter air is very heavy. So I was hoping i can find something (graphite shat) to have me the distance as summer time. IN addition, i started a new job that requires a lot of travelling (more than 50%) so my game has gone south becaue of lack of practice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just wondering, does GD come in full 3-pw set or i can buy them separately? Aerotech has 100g graphite iron shafts, what do you guys think? does that defeat the purpose of having a lighter longer graphite shafts? thanks everyone. Duffer19
Just out of curiosity, what makes you get the Passing Point vs say 1006, 202 or 301 with the PP being the first Miura with strong loft and more offset. I assume being a 10 hdcp, you might prefer a more traditional loft iron.
K2_2
Check around, but I don't think you will have a problem buying individual GD shafts. RE shaft weight, a 100 g shaft will be a bit lighter than a DGS300, so you will swing it a little faster and get a little more height on the ball. That could be exactly what you are after. Ninja edit: There are tons of ~ 100g graphite shafts, although I don't know of any JDM ones in the $30/shaft range. At the uber high end you have the Tour AD 105/115, then in the slightly more reasonable catagory you have the Roddio I-10 and the Tour AD Pro. Following those, you have the Tour AD 95, Rombax 9E05, and the Axiv 959 (? not sure on the model numbering). Some people are fine with an 80g shaft, others find it too light or difficult to control. I would try an 80g shaft, a 100g shaft, and compare them to your S300's. The S300 is fairly heavy shaft, high bend point, low launch, etc. Any sub-100 gram shaft will be a significant change from the S300. TBone
Hey big terence, Do you have the Miura PP's shafted up yet? Let us know what you think of them. I don't believe I've read a review of Passing Points!
