Fourteen (V2, V3 or J Spec) 3. Epon AF's Not much feedback yet on the MTI's. Fourteen has a great wedge reputation and the Epon's...well they are Epons. In the end, I'll probably try all 3 brands....but where do you suggest I start? Always have preferred a higher bounce wedge (sand/lob). Medium divot on good shots, with the miss being a little on the heavy side. Preferred look...tear drop shape to square, not a fan of the round look. As mentioned, where should I start, any suggestions? Any other models that I'm missing that may provide what I'm looking for? Hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving! Spoon
i have the epon af wedges. they are very good. the wedges that have lasted the longest in my bag are ping mb wedges, beres mg801 and the epons. i have been curious about the mti wedges but reluctant to pull the trigger bec of lack of reviews. i would suggest trying out the mti type d. be the first to review em they must really be special as they are real popular among japan touring pros. good luck
xchangmanx
the MTI is nice, if not for the colors.
Breal
The fourteen wedges are absolutely pure , what a great shape and great fourteen feel. I havent tried the PRGR yet they look cool but not the classic look the fourteen has. Also they have a somewhat sharp leading edge.

EdChoi
Another vote for fourteen v3. played them for the past 5 months, and they still have tons of bite on them. they look simple, no wild grinds, but they just seem to work. Played a 52 Epon X wedge a bit last year, very good wedge. I moved from a 4 wedge (including pitching) to a 3 wedge setup, so the 52 was replaced by a hybrid. The new AF model is under consideration. Before you put the AF's in the bag, did you play the X wedge? If so, any comparisons?

Spoon, could you explain what you mean by choose an appropriate shaft, are you saying some shafts don't work with these heads? I am currently looking at the Epon KZG in Black Gold, do you have any experience of these? Nick

I don't like the feel of the NSPro's at all... but LOVE the BG's in the Epon wedges... The Nippons feel boardy to me, I get much better feel with the BG's. Droopy
I vote for the Epon AF wedges. I should have a 56 and a 60 with NSPro 1150s coming sometime in the future. :) Droopy
TBone
O.K.! Placed an order for a couple of 58's...MTI Type D and Epon AF, I'll pick up a Fourteen over the winter and do some testing. Might even throw another 1 or 2 models into the mix, I have a Yururi, Vokey, and Scratch....any other suggestions?
gocchin
Two of the softest underrated wedges are the Royal Collection 6150TG and the Yamaha Inpres X Wedge. I just added the Yamaha to the pro shop... it is SOFT and has amazing spin. It uses very pure S10C steel and I'm pretty sure it's forged by Endo. The RC is just one of the best compact wedges ever made... Bat will back me up on this... amazing feel and spin with it's milled face. Breal
Breal,Is it the Fourteen or the MTI that has the somewhat sharp leading edge? Sorry didnt see the question a week ago. The Fourteen leading edge I was talking about, but its not extreme.
Bat
The RC is just one of the best compact wedges ever made... Bat will back me up on this... amazing feel and spin with it's milled face. There's nothing quite like the RC 6150TG. If you're looking for maximum spin and feel look no further. The Fourteens has a very nice profile and good spin but not quite as soft. The RC and Epon are definitely softer IMO. Both are some of the best out there but I personally prefer the more compact RC. dkjscout
What differences are there between the Epon X and the newer Epon AFs wedges?
gocchin
What differences are there between the Epon X and the newer Epon AFs wedges? D, a slightly different shape, also for the new AF wedge, the grooves are much close to right angles for crazy spin. The CG is also moved closer to the hosel for a lower trajectory stable shot rather than going for max height.
