Posted November 23, 200717 yr I play USDM and JDM stuff. I check around every so often. I have yet to see JDM irons with PX as an option. I have seen BG (Epon) and all Nippon, some Rifles, but no PX.
November 23, 200717 yr I don't know why not.... not sure why they wouldn't be if you requested them?? Perhaps some of the other shafts you've mentioned are very similar?? I would have to assume they are just not JDM in any way... Anyone else?? I have not hit these shafts. Just about every other shaft... what makes them better than the rest??
November 24, 200717 yr Since TT purchased Royal Precision almost every JDM OEM now complains of poor quality control. Whats odd is the American OEMs still use them.
November 24, 200717 yr Hi Toby, I don't know why we never saw the PX in JDM irons prior to the True Temper buyout. I remember there being some initial problems with quality control after the buyout, leading to some delays on clubs ordered with the PX. However, the last time I was chatting with someone at a shop, you could order the PX again with no big delays. I've never been a fan of the shaft, and when I'm messing with steel, I've always been more comfortable with Dynamic Gold S300's.
November 24, 200717 yr Based on my experience with both markets and PX; the profile of the shafts wouldn't strike me as something the Japanese market would embrace...stiff as a brick and lean towards being extremely harsh when mis hit. Personally I can't stand them; make my teeth chatter when you miss the sweet spot. I purchased a set of Srixon Pro-100's this season and they happened to be shafted with PX 6.0's. While they where extremely stiff my swing held up until the joints in my hands literally started to hurt. Whatever, they are gone now. That's why; at least my guess... November 24, 200717 yr Your right that it's not a popular shaft now in Japan but pre TT buy out it was a common option from most brands. I have hit pre 5.5 and post 6.0 made shafts and can't tell much of a difference to be honest, oddly Its a great shaft in certain flex's for certain heads. They work well in my Miura irons but not my AF301 and I have yet to find out in the TC550's.
November 24, 200717 yr Thats wild about the quality control it can happen. As I have experience with the PX shaft there good to alot of people but only when your striking them solid. But they are siff and feel like telephone poles when your not. I wasnt hip to the shaft what little I messed with them, maybe now they would be fine. There are so many smoother feeling shafts out there. One thing the PX does have they are accurate. But with Japan everything has to be perfect so I can see why they do not want to mess the PX because of the QC problems.
November 24, 200717 yr Its funny how a shaft will just 'work' in some clubs, and feel like rubish in others!
November 24, 200717 yr The PX debate will rage on,but I believe they just don't fit the profile of the JDM consumer as they love that soft buttery feel and PX are anything but that.Chris, how do you think PX would feel in the 550's?Very interested in that combo THX
November 24, 200717 yr Author Japan's numero uno amateur is using them...I wish I could scan the mag.

More news is NSPRO has been in struggles after the Japan earthquake in getting the inventory needed to supply demand. In regards to the 550 + PX combo, i think it would feel great but there is always that chance things don't mesh well for certain players.
