Droopy
I'm looking to get a new set of shafts for my 4-PW (Mizuno E500). I'm considering the Nippon 950, 1050, or 1150 Tours. I have another set of Taylormade R7 XD with Rifle Tour Flighted 5.5 shafts. These sticks are good for me as I can really feel the shaft kick; the problem is: I don't like the heads too much. I know that the 950 and 1050 play a little soft and the 1150 plays true to flex. I also know that the 950 and 1050 launch the ball higher than the 1150. Here are my questions: 1. Do the 950/1050 play soft enough to match the 5.5 shafts or will I need to soft-step them? 2. With the 1150, I know I will need to soft-step them but how many times to match the 5.5 shafts? Thanks, Droopy

Thanks, Droopy You should have no problems with stiff across all the Nippon models if you play Rifle Tour flighted 5.5's. It will all end up being weight preference. The 950's and 1050's would certainly launch a little higher, with all three models being smooth feeling. The lighter the shaft the more you will feel it kick. If you really want kick, you should consider some good graphite like Roddio I-10 or GD Tour AD 95 or Axiv 959M! Of course they do cost quite a bit more! DC003
I'd suggest to try the E21 Eagle One shafts as well...they come in different weights and have very tight shot dispersion.
xchangmanx
Yeah if you play rifles you shouldn't have a problem w/NS stiff all the way to 1150. I have project x 6.0s on my 695s and had them on my Mizuno mp60 and 32s, then used the NS1150s on the Mizzys. I favor the 1150 over the 950 and 1050s. But if you want soft go w/lighter shafts w/more kick like the the Graphite T mentioned. GD shafts are great also for irons. Droopy
Where can I check these out? Also, any one played both these shafts and Nippon's? I'd suggest to try the E21 Eagle One shafts as well...they come in different weights and have very tight shot dispersion.
Droopy
Quick update: I'm definitely NOT getting the 950s. If I go with Nippon, I'm leaning towards the 1050 over the 1150 at the moment. However, I will try both at my local clubfitter before I decide. Anyone have experience wiht the Eagle One shafts? I think I'm going to stay away from graphite for now...these sticks are actually bogeydog's old sticks; they came with the Roddio I-10 shafts. The shafts really don't suit me that well...a little too muted. Very L-O-N-G though! Droopy
mizpin
Just came across this because I want to reshaft my e500, which has the 950. They are too "light" for me and I can't "feel" the club during the backswing. I am deciding on whether to go with 1050 or 1150. Which one did you end up getting, and why? Thanks. Dont bother with 1050 and go straigh to 1150 if 950 are too light. I use 1150 and I have tried 950. To me, 1150 dont fly that much lower and arent that much heavier. btw I swing 100-105 driver
mizpin
Thanks Forte. The 1150 is probably right because I have tried other clubs that had shafts near weight of the 1150 and these clubs felt right. I was at a fitting, and my 6 iron club ss is 81 and my driver ss is around 95. He suggested a stiff shaft for the irons, and I am not sure about using a stiff because I am afraid that the stiff will be too hard to hit. Any thoughts as to whether I should stay with the 1150 regular or 1150 stiff. I am leaning toward going with the regular. Thanks.
