Pick a shaft - any shaft

Augusta Golf

Ok guys, any and all opinions welcomed. :atsg_smilie_roll:

Contemplating my first TSG club purchase and pretty sure I want the Epon 460 driver 9.5 loft which has many shaft choices. I'm leaning towards the Axiv X or Diamana but since I've never hit any JDM clubs or shafts I want to make the right choice for what I think is a considerable investment.

Avg. (golf course swing) speed around 115 mph, wanting a med-high flight with good roll out. Seems I'm on the bubble between stiff and x flex. Don't want to swing something that feels like a telephone pole but I have a med.-fast transition so too whippy and I'm hitting it AFLAC (ducky).

Thanks for the input.

Since you are a strong player with the handicap to go with it, why not consider the latest Graphite Design 9003 or p9003 for the strong and pro golfers. Take a chance and be the first one on the block to use it.

Medium-high with my Mizuno driver, Fuji vistapro 70 shaft 43.5" stiff. Well, I'm not a low-ball hitter but I have read the MX500 gives a higher trajectory. Haven't found a reliable launch monitor around to have spin checked :(

Iron shafts are "supposedly" X200 sensicore but they spec out all over the place for stiffness and I can hit them med. traj. or high if I need to.

As for the other reply, that's too much to spend to be the genuie pig!

Well, my guess is you need an x-stiff, not a stiff (unless it's tipped pretty good)......

What is your current ballflight? Are you a high-ball hitter? How's your spin with the driver - high, low, mid? etc.....Need a little more info to be of much help.

I'm gonna put a Matrix Atlus on my Epon 460. The Rombax 7x07 feels sweet, but I wanna play around more. =)

The premium shaft upcharge is $140 for the Axiv X, $125 for the White and $200 for the GD Tour AD 9003, a difference of $60 to $75. I dont quite understand this " that's too much to spend to be the genuie pig!" IMO, the stock NGS is quite good already.

I have a P9003 on its way to me as we speak. Its most likely going in my 3 wood but then again I do have a spare Epon head lying around here that is in desperate need of a shaft so I may just change my mind and put that in there. Then again, maybe just have to get another since its my 3 wood right now that I want to make a change to. Like I said its en-route and as soon as it gets installed and I give it a couple sessions I'll report back.

With a swing speed of 115mph I would suggest staying with an x-stiff especially since you can be prone to duck hooking from time to time.

I agree with Blader X, the p9003 in X-stiff looks just right for you, IMO GD shafts are the best out there, I am seriously contemplating repacing my Axiv V's with them, so they must be good! Lol!
