Backspin9
I saw a Tourstage 3 wood that interested me but it's shafted with a GD Tour AD W60 shaft. The specs show this shaft at 63g for a S flex which seems awfully light for a 3 wood. Previously, I have always used 83g FW shafts. I know these are great shafts (and pretty expensive) and I may just pull the trigger on the deal since it's a great price. The shaft can always be replaced. My driver has an Xcon 5 which is 55g and I'm wondering how the W60 might work in a 3 wood. From what I can gather on the Tourstage web site with a limited translation they have used light (<60g) shafts on some of their FW in the past, so maybe the W60 would work? I was thinking if I got the swing weight to D2-D3 it may not feel so bad. Any thoughts/opinions on this? Anyone play light weight FW shafts? gocchin
I play with light shafts all around but sub 60g shafts in FW's in Japan are not uncommon at all. The W-60 is a very smooth shaft. Great performance and a nice mid trajectory. I'd say it would all depend on your swing style. If you use a nice smooth swing with your woods regularly then this shaft can work for you. I've always been okay with having an FW shaft the same weight to 10g's heavier.
Duffer19
The W60 would be a great FW shaft. Most lower handicap/players FW out from Japan is in the mid 60g. The W60 is a great progression in weight from the 55 g driver shaft.
chinkwan
I own W70 on a ViQ Driver custom ordered from Tourstage in Japan.. Great Club.. I am a 90-95mph swinger and it works.. I am pretty confident that the W60 will be good in a fwy application as my W70 has tight dispersion and a medium trajectory... Currently playing ViQ 3/5 Fwy with oem 50gm stiff shafts.. those are a touch too whippy.. got to put a very smooth swing to it to make it work... I might re-shaft both in the future with something a bit tighter in dispersion... Edited February 2, 2008 by chinkwan

Blader-X
Yes I would agree with previous postings. TourAD's are great quality. I'm thinking if you play 55gms in the driver going with a 60gm in the 3 wood might actually work out better for you. I tend to feel that your shafts should stay within 10-15 gms of each other in the woods. It just seems to me that the swing would stay more consistent when the weights are a little more equal. If you do end up giving it a try, let us know how it goes.
