chinkwan
Has anybody heard if any Japanese OEM's have announced that they will be releasing interchangable shaft drivers for consumers?? I have seen Callaway, Taylormade and Nike all announced that they are coming out this year.. i.e. I think the Callaway system comes with 1 Driver head and 2 shafts.. and of course the tool to remove and install the 2 shafts.. I think we are all equipment Ho's here and it will be great to sample shafts without going to the clubmaker all the time.. I can imagine swapping shaft or head with friends to try. GolfGear is no longer published so I have no more information...
gocchin
At the moment it seems only the Legacy driver has the Opti fit from Callaway. Nothing else... yet.
idrive
IMO... The average Golfer has no idea what the difference between most shafts are... this is nothing more than an "idea" in the marketing department on a way to sell more equipment. Are you going to change shafts that morning because the wind is blowing and you want to keep the ball flight down??? I'm sure it has its merits, I think... I know I don't see myself looking for interchangeable shafts at this moment.
Blader-X
I seen this on the Golf Channel's review of the PGA Merchandise Show for this year. Although a good idea, it seems limited at the moment as I don't believe all shaft manufacturers have shafts that fit these. The shaft must be able to fit into the head and be secured by a screw at the bottom. One maker has the driver in the box with two separate shafts. I think for it to really take off you should be able to go a buy any shaft you want and be able to do this. Most likely a sign of things to come, but for now, I'll stick with my 'ol JDM equip.
