Shaft selection for EMB

I have been reading great things about EMB driver lately.

It seems like Axiv-x shaft is great combination but I am interested to know how TourAD QT MD shaft would work with the driver.

Anybody have experience with this combo?

I would appreicate your input on this.

Thanks!

You got that right some people claim almost 20-40 yards vs the last model Epon driver. Choice magazine gives Epon's drivers top ranking over every OEM U.S or JDM in their testings as does rating gate. They both rate them #1 and Epon didnt ask, pay or submit a demo for their review.

I actually suggest the Tour AD MD shaft and the Stock Shaft. The stock shaft is the perfect match for this EMB head and its also less expensive.

I was leaning toward TourAD as well over Axiv.

How does the stock shaft play out? high tourque and light weight scares me little bit but there seems to be many good reviews on the stock shaft as well.

I am about 96~100 mph ss and relatively medium transition type player with minimum wrist action and has fairly high ball flight. I would like to keep the ball down little bit with more roll. I don't have much problem with accuracy so I am looking for more distance with new stick.

Thanks for any input.

The stock shaft might in fact be the most stable shaft there is for the EMB. Remember it was designed specifically for the EMB head. Don't let the higher torque numbers scare you. This driver is very very straight as I'm sure you've probably read from the reviews and feedback here. An SR flex would actually fit you well and consider going with the longer shaft to flatten your swing plane out and produce a lower trajectory increasing roll.

i have an axiv x on an emb as well as the stock emb driver shaft. i actually like and recommend the stock tour ad emb shaft as it was specially designed for this high moi head. you cannot go wrong with either shaft though. good luck

I didn't/haven't tried the stock shaft so I can't compare the two.

I can only tell you the AxivX shaft that is fit for you, is the bomb. I'm tempted to buy an EMB or at least try one with the stock shaft so I can compare the two. I really can't imagine that it could get any better.

This Driver is so awesome (IMO) that I'm over the shape and sound of it. I am very traditional in the look and sound of my clubs.. but the EMB is helping overcome the change very nicely.

idrive,

How's your ball flight on 9' EMB compare to traditional Epon 9.5? The shaft plays big roll in ball flight but I need some comparison before choosing the loft.

I am leaning toward 9' EMB since I can easily get the ball up in the air and also the fact that stock shaft has low kick point which will help with getting the ball up in the air easily.

Thanks for your input.

I have no problem getting the ball airborne as well...

My trajectory is low/low med... piercing.. rolls out very nicely. At this point I would not consider a higher lofted Driver.

I think the low trajectory with roll is part of my increased distance. When the fairways dry out as summer comes around my distance is only going to increase.

Great reviews and info guys... 'I will wait until AFTER the Tokyo show to buy a new driver... I will wait!'

T, on the longer shaft and flatter swing, every pro & fitter I've worked with felt that longer shafts, if you were striking the ball well, gave you a slightly higher trajectory due to the extra club head speed you generate, all other things being equal. Has the thinking on this changed a bit?
