Epon Driver questions

For the Epon experts in the forum, I have a couple of questions about the 460 driver head.

I have an older 460 driver with the word "Technity" on the sole, I was wondering if there are any technical differences between this and the newer model with the word "Epon" instead?

Does my older model have the same cup face as the newer one?

And now a question to those who are currently using the EMB and had the 460 before-------Is it worth the switch over???? :tsg_smiley_crazy:

Thanks.

If you look at his join date and #, you would know he has been around a bit but just does not post much.

I think the new AF101 is just slightly different in the forgiveness department with the AF101 being just slightly more forgiving. I don't think their is an increase in distance.

Chris, Tourspecgolfer, has hit them both and has the specs on these and will hopefully chime in soon.

I have played with the Technity 460 w/Roddio shaft extensively. I love the driver and shaft combo. It has been in the bag for almost a year now...

I received the EMB about a month a go. I have played about 8-9 rounds with it.

FOR ME... the EMB is just simply longer and straighter than anything I have ever hit before. At this point I would not be willing to give this club up.

The 460 Technity and ZR460 Epon is the same. Both are no longer available.

The New AF101 is totally different, They worked on this driver for 3 years and its at least 10+ yards longer than the Epon ZR460. The AF101 was released only a couple of days ago to TSG and it isn't even available in Japan yet. The AF101 is also considered longer than the EMB by Epon designers, staff, and myself. The EMB is still very long but its asset is its forgiveness. Yes your old technity has the same cup face as the old 460 but not the same cup face as the AF101

But to answer your question the old 460 doesnt share a thing with the new AF101.

Oh my, Chris. You have opened up a new can of worms. Let me summerize and see if I understand you correctly.

1. In terms of distance the AF 101 is longer than the EMB which in turn is longer than the ZR460/460 Technity.

2. In terms of forgiveness the EMB is champ followed by the AF 101 and then the ZR460/460 Technity.

Now, what is the standard shaft for the AF 101? Does it feel and sound more like the ZR460 than the EMB?

Chris the size of the Epon AF 101 head is 460 correct!? Yet the EMB is the idential 460, but is more forgiving. Is the

Epon AF 101 more a players club???? Would you say that the AF 101 is designed for the low to mid handicap??? The

EMB is for everyone?? When you mentioned the the AF 101 is less forgivng, how much?

the af101 is a 460cc driver head. i have both drivers and all i can say is that the emb is for all kinds of players it is longa nd very very forgiving. while the af101 is still pretty forgiving to most drivers but a little less compared to the emb. its really tough comparing the emb with any other driver is becasue it is so long and straight, the better player may see this at a disadvatage becasue they can work the ball less. i however am not that kind of player, il take long and straight with lots of forgiveness anytime.

teh af101 is also darn good and will suit those wanting to work the ball a little and for those who want a more tradionatl looking and sounding driver. either or you cannot go wrong with these sticks. good luck

Spoon, how did you get your hands on a AF101 if it was just released to the dealer a few days ago as Chris allured to? :tsg_smiley_question:

Since you are one of the few who had experienced with both the AF101 and the EMS, did you come up with the same result as Chris? That is did you find the AF longer than the EMS?

Don't know if you owned the ZR460 before, any idea how that head gets to compare with the two newer models?

What shaft did your AF101 come with?

Sorry about all these questions.............Thanks.

Lol! not going to comment where i got it all i know is its awesome!

actually i got both drivers because i am a equipment junkie and no junkies fix can be quenched unless he has a taste of the finest offerings of technologically packed gear out there. it so happened epon had them and i just had to pull the trigger. Both are fine drivers but i give the edge to the emb even though i use the epon af101.

i also had the zr460 but did not adapt well to it due to the deeper face. it was also significantly less forgiving compared to the emd and a little less than the af101. i will say this again that the emb is the longest driver i have ever hit and straightest too! the af101 for me is just as long but not necessarily as straight.

lets just say that with my pals i usually play the af101, i just love it for personal reasons just as much as others would love the emd. but when going to a gunfight or money is involved i will take my emb any other day of the week. its like a tomahawk cruise missle that finds targets far far away. ok maybe not a laser guided tomahawk more like a howitzer:)

in the end its a personal choice and i myself had the same dilemma as you. choosing between two equally good things is a tough decision. only you can answer that. but i made it easy on myself by getting both. that way no need to rationalize and play endless, sleepless nights of mental justification etc etc. now i have two awesome drivers i can use depending on my mood. good luck!

1. Yes in terms of distance the AF101 is longer than the EMB, this is my opinion as well as the opinion of the Epon staff I have spoken with.

2. I would agree with that statement in the order you have it written.

For my swing the stock 7080 mach line works best but as you can see Epon can attach just about any of your favorite shafts to this club.
