dciman
ok,, so here's my question.. and this question ONLY pertains to Japanese exclusive irons,, NOT Japan FORGINGS!! OK?? i am considering getting some of the TM TP Forged irons. Now these clubs will Never be available in the US. When i read the introduction on TSG Pro Shop Iron page, this is what i read: "Forged Japanese Steel is the best in the industry and with the implementation of CNC milling, optimal center of gravity design, and quality master craftsmanship you will be able to feel and see the difference in performance while you enjoy the soft sensation that vibrates from the head to grip into your hands creating the most rewarding Iron experience you have ever felt" Now i understand the clubs i want, TP Forged, are NOT forged in Japan, but Taiwan. So, are these clubs really that MUCH better than any set of TM TP's i can get in the US?? People claim that US quality is NOT what Japan quality is,, but why is that? just the forging process? besides the rare factor with these irons,, are they really worth it? please, feel free to share your thoughts, wisdom and expertise... xchangmanx
I own R7 TPs and R7 forged irons 07 model.. Persoanally speaking only for myself, I buy JDM products from now on. Unless they are endo forged, I buy JDM. Hands down I'd take the R7 forged JDM over the TPs anyday. If you were to blindfold me and make me hit both clubs, I'd probably tell you I can't tell the diff. But I will tell you, I'd pick the JDM club over the US club, because personally I perfer the forged iron's look and appeal. Moreover, I love having the peace of mind that my club is forged over cast. (just a personal perference, nothing against cast, I just personally prefer forged) Furthermore, nothing can replace the CONFIDENCE my JDM clubs give me. Quality in craftsmanship, (especailly epon) is immediately profound upon just looking at the club. For me, confidence is a big thing and I as bad as my game is, I need all the help I can get. LOL I believe if you do your research well enough, you'll soon be asking yourself; "why did I ever shop at tgw and rogerdunn for clubs?" D-Man, I guess your quandry continues on. It boils down to the coolness factor and if the extra large cavity allows for "feel".
Duffer19
D-Man, I guess your quandry continues on. It boils down to the coolness factor and if the extra large cavity allows for "feel". I have been reading this discussion with interest and this thing with TP forged. If it is coolness factor and real quality that you are after, then you should consider: All Epon line Japanese only Miura such as mb5003 or cb1006 Fourteen 770 or 1000 forged cb Limited Edition OnOff 247 forged irons by Miura Yamaha Tour Forged limited edition or just forged cb Gold's CB or MB last but not least, Matsumoto forged CB

+TourSpecGolfer
A lot of it comes down to price point, if the median driver price in the usa is 299 and in Japan about 800 there is so much more that can be done with the club as far as design, materials, technology and manufacturing. Same deal goes with the irons. If the target price in the usa is 599 or 699 that means sacrifices must be made in several areas. In regards to the TM TP Forged, I think it will reach the USA in about 1 1/2 years at the longest. The R7 Forged was just released in the USA yet its an older model in Japan. TM TP is indeed a Japan Domestic Market club but it is not a Japan made club. It has an awesome shape, amount of offset, topline size etc.. among the best currently on the market IMO.
