I had to try the Geotech line of clubs to see just how good the clubs could be considering the prices. I purchased the driver and it was solid and okay. I purchased the GT special grind wedge, 56*, and it spins a lot and feels good. But the three wood, it has a feel that is incredible. I ordered the GT 15* three wood and shafted it with a Grafalloy NT prototype graphite 43" shaft, and it feels so solid, strong, and rockets the ball. The face has a solid click feel to it when striking the ball and the trajectory is straight and low. I have a 15* TS X-drive fw wood and a G-Field GFT 15* fw wood and this GT feels better than either of those two (and I am a G-Field fan.)

You never know how a club will feel until you try it. Glad I took a chance and tried the GT brand. Has anyone else had a positive experience with Geotech components?

Doc, I haven't had any experience with the Geotech.

I'm a little bit slow just having recently added an Epon 3 wood to the bag, however the Epon is probably going to be there for a long time.

Doc, good feedback!

How does the GT setup compared to the G-Field and TS? It's about 165cc and does look like it sets up nicely.

Okay, which one is the Geotech, the X-Drive, and the G-Field?

In comparing the heads, G-Field was the smallest, Geotech next, and the TS X-Drive is the largest head of the three. The depth of the faces has G-Field as the shallowest (1.24 in.), the Geotech next (1.34 in.), and again the X-Drive has the deepest (1.43in.)

And how do they look at set-up, the Geotech has the best set-up at square or just a little open. If I did not know better I would have to say the G-Field and the X-Drive look at least 1* closed, but I assume they are supposed to be square so the Geotech must be at least 1* open.

And, what is really nice about the Geotech is that the scoring lines do not go all the way across the face, kind of like a driver, and I bet this is why they have that solid clicky feel. I think the X-Drive and the G-Field feel a little muted when you hit then, not the Geotech. It has that driver feel.

So, did you guess correctly? The Geotech is in the middle, the X-Drive is on the left, and the G-Field on the right.

Great review Doc!

I am also amazed by GeoTech's product for the price point, Especially their woods and wedges.

I would also like to try FW's with less score marks on the face.

The amazing thing about the Geotechs too is the fact that their faces are square to open which is what most better players prefer. This is a rarity when many FW's these days definitely have closed faces.

The Doc Thanks!! Another nice Geotech review, (which helped me further in selecting GT's products!)

Cheers!

Geotechs are amazing considering the prices. I now have the GT 435 driver, GT three wood, and the GT wedges, which spin as much as my Scratch wedges. Now I just need to get the GT irons. Anyone have any thoughts on the irons?

Yes sir, the geotech models forged in Japan are very solid. Models like the EK forged, V-CNC MB, 670HC and all the wedges and woods perform and feel great as well.

I wanted to give Geotech woods a try so I grabbed a 24* 9W looking for something real easy to hit.

Initially I was concerned with the face being 2* OPEN!! As my bad shot is right with a push or sometimes a slice.

The shape of the GT Fairways are awesome... you would never believe this head only cost $85 as it's quality seems considerably higher. The head comes with a 10g weight in the heel and a 2g in the toe which can be swapped to configure ball flight. You can also use other weights... they look to be TM sized weights so there are probably lots of weight configurations possible.

The shape of the FW is very good, traditional and more towards the compact size... this 9W is just over 120cc.

I shafted it with an Axiv and I was very happy with its feel and performance. Very easy to hit and feeling is very good. The 2* open face is no problem, strangely I can actually draw this thing whereas I can't even draw FW's with closed faces usually. So perhaps my swing works with open faces?!?!

For those looking for a relatively compact, nice traditional shaped FW with an open face... Geotech is a definite option!

The Geotech three wood is still in the bag and feels so solid. The Tourstage and G-Field are very nice, but just like the feel of the GT face more.

I played 18 today and my Geotech 9w was simply amazing. I did not once pull my 5 iron from the bag and used the Geotech every time, from the fairway, rough and off the tee. It simply gave a predictable ball flight every time... a soft draw with an equally soft landing. It's a small 120cc head at address but I really really like it.
