New Tourstage GR Line in June

Tourstage is releasing a revised GR line in June. For those players who want to play the X-Drive line of clubs but are looking for more forgiveness.

The new Tourstage GR Black Driver is like the X-Drive Black 445cc except it has 460cc and shallower face and is shafted with the Tour AD B08-05 Proto.

The new Tourstage GR Black Irons have stronger lofts than the X-Blade 2008 and an undercut cavity for forgiveness... forged body with a SUP10 hi COR face.

Tourstage is also releasing a ViQ Deep for those wanting a forgiving driver with a deeper face.

The new ViQ Deep looks substantially different than the 07 Model. The 2007 was 430cc and the new one looks to be 460cc. Also it looks like they have eliminated the weight plugs.

From what I've read here the ViQ is much more forgiving than the X-Drive 460 and I like the 430cc size. The X-Drive 460 is a great driver, but it is not the easiest thing to hit. You really have to work at it. I still have mine (with an Xcon 5) and hit some great shots with it, but have been thinking about a 2007 ViQ Deep, just to have something in the 430cc size.

My main concern is overpowering a ViQ after having to really hammer an XD 460. I suppose a better shaft might take care of that, though. XD GR might be a better option.

Actually the 07 model was 460cc and called the ViQ MX and ViQ Deep (which was 430cc). The New ViQ that was 430cc is a 2006 model (the blue one). That ViQ Deep above is based on the 2008 ViQ that was released 4 months ago. so many different ViQ's can be confusing but as you said this new 2008 ViQ and ViQ Deep have no more weight plug and both feature the dual fin face.

Sorry, I get confused with all the different models. The one I was referring to is this one:

I thought this was the ViQ Deep (430cc) from 2007.

At any rate, is this driver mostly for a higher handicap player? How would it perform for a lower handicap, given it had a Tour AD Shaft in it, or something similar?

No apologies necessary and you're actually right on all the models... (^_^). The ViQ Deep is geared at the better player still looking for forgiveness but preferring a deeper face. The regular ViQ is what Japan classifies as an Average golfer model. The Deep version would be between the Average and Athlete golfer where the standard X-Drive line is placed.

Tourstage created all these models to try and match all the different levels of players as well as different tastes in drivers.

The ViQ Deep would definitely work for a lower handicap player. And as with any shaft, an upgraded shaft would definitely help a driver from being overpowered.

So by June, TS will have 4 x 2008 driver models from Athlete to Average golfer: X-Drive Black, X-Drive GR Black, ViQ Deep, ViQ

Still no news at all about ViQ Forged irons... I know everyone is waiting on those. I just noticed on some Japanese blogs a reference to the new GR so I researched. (^_^)

Hehe good digging. I saw the black GR on gdoshop as well a few days ago. Looks like black is in for 2008!

Only available in 9.5* with a very slightly closed face (0.5*) and it appears the crown is black... but I need to confirm... have to find pics of the head cover too!

Do any of the XD 445 lofts come with an open face?

All the 445's are square. You know you can get open up to 1.5* on the AF-101 right? (^_^)

Will Tourstage release new x-drive fairway wood soon? The black version of X-drive black GR FW? or something else?

Thanks

Definitely a possibility though we're probably looking at mid to late summer.
