Not one but TWO G-Field Drivers

I have been searching for a year for a G-Field GFT driver to complete my G-Field bag and I found not just one, but two GFT drivers heads. Ha, I only meant to buy one but mistakenly bought both. One is a 10.5* and the other is an 8.5*. These are the drivers that are pictured on page 26 of the TSG driver picture gallery-very nice looking.

So, I need to find out more about these two drivers. They look like 460's in size but are they? From those of you who have actually hit them, how do they feel? What might be a good shaft to put in them? Are they shorter or longer than your other drivers? Are they filled with foam?

Any thoughts you might have on them would be appreciated? I am going to keep one and sell the other but not sure which one to keep. I hit a 9.5* TS X-Drive now with a Ad proto stiff shaft in it and it is long. Wonder if I should hit the 8.5* GFT to get the same distance?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Doc,

Thats one I do not suggest, both are prototypes one could have been foamed. The distance I would rate poor, its got a muted sound to it and they are both 430cc's.

If your a collector of Gauge JPN product then great but if you intend on hitting these as gamers I would suggest a more final product with better performance.

Those drivers were never released public due to performance issues.

Ha, doesn't sound too promising to use these GFT heads as gamers but will give them a try. I have shafted one of them with a MFS Woven HT stiff shaft and will hit it and compare it to my TourStage X-Drive. Will report back how it feels and how long it goes. It looks great with the woven shaft.

Yes If i were to guess you will have a lower ball flight that is very straight yet not the hottest as far as distance goes. Great driver on a tight short course.

Today I took my new G-Field GFT 8.5* driver out to the range to test it and compare it to my TS X-Drive 9.5*. And, there was hardly any difference in distance between the two. The GFT definitely had a harder, clicky, feeling face than the X-Drive, it kind of felt like the new Callaway Hyper X driver. No foam in this driver. The ball flight was lower than the X-Drive but like I said before, only a couple of yards difference with the X-Drive being the longest. Was landing the GFT around the 270 mark, using my rangefinder, and the X-Drive was in the 275 range.

I really like the way the GFT looks at address and guess I will have to use it for a couple of rounds before making the final judgement.
