Anyone know what this shaft is? Mystery at the U.S. Open

Featured Replies

Anyone know what this is? A prominent Asian tour pro had it in play at the 2008 U.S. Open. (I think it is Katayama, but I'm not up to speed as all of you here on the JPGA/JDM.) Might be old news, but I still haven't seen another one, or heard anything about it. Again, I took these in early June, so it may be old news.

When I zoom in all the way in the bottom most picture I can make out Bassara. Guess it's a Bassara, is it a new model?

Shingo,

has long played the bassara, this is one in particular is definately a proto, i will get the exact numer proto from one of my golf magazines...

My first reaction was a 'Crazy' but then you guys are probably right it being a Bassara proto.

I think more interestingly is what in the hell tee is he using!?

MD, you should travel to the far east more often. These tees are available everywhere and this seems to be the two part one that would either be spring loaded or break away at the middle.

Shingo is playing a Sumo 5000 10.3* real loft with Bassara Prototype at 46.5". The Bassara has similar graphics to the new Hawk and Falcon

I'd love to travel to the middle east more often.

Those tees are wild! Awesome.
