xchangmanx
Don't know if you guys noticed, but I did; today's 3rd round, they shot a closeup on his 5 iron shot into one of the par3s, and it is indeed the R7 Forged japan set. Also in practice range showed him using 2 drivers the R7 limited and the superquad. Cool!!
Duffer19
Some guy in WRX would tell you that the irons are really a US tour van version but we know better.
Goodsie
Don't know if you guys noticed, but I did; today's 3rd round, they shot a closeup on his 5 iron shot into one of the par3s, and it is indeed the R7 Forged japan set. Also in practice range showed him using 2 drivers the R7 limited and the superquad. Cool!! Good catch, xchangmanx!! The new TM Burner should be showing up on Tour any day now plus the Callaway FT-9. The clarity and sharpness of the HiDef TV picture is giving us a real chance to get up real close with these guys. I saw a lot of Project X shafts, that unmistakable blue label is everywhere. Diamana shafts are in alot of Drivers also. The wedge shot Sergio hit out of the Fescue grass on 17 was a sight to behold in HiDef. The ultra slow motion clearly showed the torque and warp he put on that shaft at contact. It was something the shaft engineers should replay over and over. It was something!! I continue to learn how the shaft reacts when it is faced with a difficult situation and how it delivers the club face back to the ball when shown on replay. It only enforces to me that the engine to the club must be "tuned" to perfection. Thanks HiDef TV for the concise picture, especially on those ultra slow motion shots. gocchin
Hi Def is a must for all sports fans... and as Goodsie said the technology used today such as high framerate Slo Mo just makes sports even more amazing to watch. If I'm not mistaken Weir has been using those custom set of lefty r7 Forged for quite some time.
jphelps22
Yes they are based of the R7 Forged, but I can tell you for a fact that they are "One Off's" for Weir as has been the case for every set of Irons he has used since signing with TMAG. They look similar but thats where the similarities end.

jphelps22
So does this officially mean that they are not Taylormade R7 Forged irons? They are, But at the same time they are completely different. Like I said before every set of iron TM has made for Weir have been "one offs" for him. They have a completely different profile, offset, and etc.... These are not the R7's, but heres an example of a "one off" set that was made for Weir based off the older TP Forged.
