So Tourstage announced it's new X-Drive lineup for 2009.

It consists of 4 models, the 901, 701, 701G and 701GR.

They are all aimed at different player types.

The primary differences are:

Head Size and Shape

CG Placement

Lie Angle

Face Angle

These differences result in different trajectorys and shot types including the following:

901: Low trajectory and Fade ball - face angle slightly open

701: Low-medium trajectory Fade and Draw - face angle square

701G: Medium trajectory Straight and Draw - face angle square

GR: Medium-High trajectory Draw - face angle slightly closed

As you can see from the images below, the Head shape as well as the CG and weight placements affect all these characteristics.

The X-Drive will also be available with some very interesting shafts:

A couple of Tour Design Prototypes from Tourstage.

The new Tour AD EV Series shaft from Graphite Design

The new Diamana Kai'Li Series shaft from Mitsubishi Rayon

The new Rombax F from Fujikura

If you have any questions about actual specs just ask and I'll try and answer them.

Mid to late October release so look for pre order soon!

Hi T,

I'm with you on the graphics - and kicking myself for not picking up a GR in Black. To me, the 2008 line looks much more appealing than the new '09 models.

On a technical note - will the 7 series really sit square being that they are designed to give players a bit more help?

Wow! Been very happy with my Epon driver. But now I am tempted to give Tourstage another try!

Can anyone tell me if I coupled 901, which is low trajectory fade vias head, with new Rombax F series shaft, which is mid to high launch shaft, would it create mid trajectory driver?

I think that the new X-Drive and X-Blades have got to be one of the nicest sets to come out for 2009. I mean all the different options available are crazy. For those looking to have as much control over what goes into the make-up of their club, I don't see how they could do any better than this line.

I posted a thread asking this question a while back, but let me ask it again.

Can someone explain to me the appeal of the tourstage drivers? I want to try one, but want to understand what is the big reason that I should try one.

Do you really need a reason to be a club 'ho? Just ask T.

These new drivers seem to be a departure from the more traditional looking(my opinion) offerings that TS has produced before, my question is to anyone who has tried a new one..... do they have that same solid feel/sound?

Looks like the J38 driver will be almost identical to the 701 without the plug. I wasn't expecting it but looking forward to it.
