gocchin
Many of us scoffed at the TP-7 and Crazy Shaft prices... now it's Mamiya Axiv's turn as they release their new Premium Axiv. Only 500 shafts will be made and only in one flex. Retail price.... $1050.00 This is a 55g light spec shaft with optimal torque set at 3.8* and made of high modulus 80T carbon in Axiv's 4 Axis weave, the highest grade carbon available in golf shafts today. The shaft combines maximum distance and accuracy with minimal energy loss. According to Axiv, if you want distance this is the shaft. Sadly it's only available in one flex 5.5kg and rated at around 238CPM or Regular flex. Maybe I should get it. Finish is a gold/silver.... s-yardie
Whoa. For that kind of coin, I expect an additional 35 yards and the dispersion of a steel shaft....
shinichi808
my dad could probably use that shaft...don't think he'd be too fond of the gold/silver color scheme though. is this going to be mamiya-op's 2009 shaft? or are they planning on relelasing something else? Phillip Alexander
gocchin The shaft is definetly aimed at the Japanese market with those specs. No problem with that, however it is a little disappointing for those with swing speeds over 80mph. Bit of a pity as the old Axiv had a range of weghts and flexes and were quite legedary around this site a couple of years back.
Spoon
im dissapointed as well, this looks like it was intended for a certain market. also i am confused about axiv, where is it made exactly? i recall chris mentioning that these were supposedly being manufactured outside of japan and the quality was questionable? can someone pls clarify as this shaft seems to be the opposite in terms of price poits, quality etc etc.

As for quality, I think they are very high quality. If they weren't then I doubt Epon would offer them as a factory install.

Richmond Golfer
I suspect this shaft could hold up well into the upper 90s Swingspeed which allows its use by most of the golfing world.

I doubt that it would accommodate upper 90s but definitely upper 80s. With 238cpm spec by AXIV, I suspect the actual installed cpm would be 220 to 225 at 45" with 198 to 200 g head.
