golfrules
Hello, I'm considering the ns pro 750 for a new set of irons and would like some advice about it. According to a club fitter, my swing speed for a 6 iron is mostly around 85 mph, sometimes going to the high 80s/low 90s. My ball flight is high and I hit my 7 iron (Callaway X-12, Graphite R) about 150 yards. The ns pro 750 appeals to me because it's light and there is some vibration absorption capabilities but I'm not sure if R or S is better suited for me. Would greatly appreciate any comments you have. Thanks!
idrive
Did the club fitter have a suggestion for you? According to your swing speed I would think the stiff flex would be the better flex. The 750 is a very light shaft. What are you using now? Your current setup, ball flight and distance makes me think your club is quite open/ delofted when you are hitting the ball. Do you fade you irons? A stiffer shaft may help keep the club from opening as easily. Edited December 28, 2008 by idrive

I haven't had the opportunity to ask the club-fitter about the NS 750 recently but plan to do so when I go for some golf demo days. The last time I asked a club-fitter about this, he said that he didn't recommend reshafting any new set of irons - no idea where that comment came from. I'm currently using Callaway X-12 with R graphite (RCH 96) shafts. You're right - I do usually fade my irons, especially the longer ones. I normally hit my wedges with a slight draw. idrive
Then I'm going to guess your wedges have steel (stiff) shafts. With what you're saying here I would think you need to move to a stiff shaft in your irons. If possible I would try some different weight shafts. With your SS a heavier shaft may fit your swing better. Many shafts offer vibration absorption. Check out the Videos offered here on TSG with Brett Smith and the flat left, bent right especially. This will help keep your ball flight down and straighter.

Thanks for your advice; I'll check out the videos. In addition to the NS Pro 750, I'm also considering Tour AD-75 and the Axiv 758M graphite shafts, as they were recommended. Perhaps, at the end of the day, it'll partly depend on which irons I decide on? Currently considering Epon AF 701 or AF 501 but haven't had the chance to try them.
