Inital Impressions of a new Tourstage putter (I think)

I just picked up a new Tourstage Putter, I think, as I don't see it in the proshop. It is the M-2P. It has some type of grooved insert in the face.

Took it out to the practice green for about 2 hours this afternoon comparing it to my current gamer, which is a Ping Redwood Piper S. Some initial thoughts:

Feel - this putter, to me, has a pretty soft feel, but I like it. If you have read some of my other posts on irons and etc, you will know that I really don't like a clik sound and I definitely don't get that with this putter.

Weight - This putter is 34" and a swing weight of D7/D8. Conincidental maybe, but that is the swing weight I try to get all my putters at. Although I don't have a problem with adding lead tape if needed.

Performance - this is where the putter really shines. The ball just seems to want to hug the ground as it leaves the putter face and distance control is better than any putter I have had.

I also picked up a set of the new 701G irons and the 901 limited edition wedges and will post a review as soon as I play a round with them. Pretty impressed after one driving range session though.

thanks Randy for the review.

How are you liking the 901 wedges compared to the Chikara's?

I have the 101LB wedge and it's pretty nice. Love the upward milling on the face. It also shreds balls like the Chikaras, not as soft though but looks better. The coolness factor is definitely there. Looking forward to your review on the wedges.

About a 8 to 9 month update.

Since getting this putter back in Feb, I have tried a lot of other putters and find I really like the "what I call" grooved inserts/faces. I have tried various models of Yes, Rife and the Bettinardi FIT putters. All put a great roll on the ball, but none compare to the feel of the Tourstage M-2P. I also like a pretty heavy putter. I know I put in my first post that at 34 inches it was D7/D8, but it is really more like E0. Should have had my glasses on the first time I had it on the swing weight scale. It is probably a combination of a lot of things, but have never had a putter with better distance control.

I'm sure because I am a golf club Ho, I will try other putters, but I am really beginning to doubt I will find any that will completely dethrone the Tourstage M-2P.

Aloha
