Fake Epon Af-301's?

Hey guys I've been reading around about how there have been many fake/counterfeit golf clubs going around on Ebay and such. For example the AP2's have been cloned by the Chinese and their are multiple fake sets going on the Bay. I was looking at a thread on Golfwrx and I was amazed on how real the fake AP2s looked compared to the real legit ones. It really got me paranoid about my AF-301's for some reason. I'm 99% they are legit, but I just have to make sure because I just get paranoid about these types of things. I got my clubs off some guy on Golfwrx and I was just wondering how I could make sure they were real?

thanks,

phil

I don't think epon places serial numbers on thier irons or wedges. Driver and woods got um though.

I doubt there are any fake Epon clubs floating around. Chinese counterfeiters go after the big names and common brands people know. Hey it costs them money to even make fake clubs so they will target ones that make them profitable, because Epon is widely unknown outside of Japan, I highly doubt there are counterfeits.

I agree w/T, not that many peeps know about epon; 90% of peeps I know don't know epon and they've been "lifers" I've taken my epons every where I've golfed and only a handfew of peeps actually come up to me and ask, where did you get those irons? Grabbing at the notion that they have some jdm insight, I am more than pleased to make conversion about TSGs equip.

Most proshops managers, clubfitters, amatuers and pros don't know Epon I think because Epon doesn't want to be known. (I think T mentioned it before on another thread, i forget)

Nonetheless they are indeed IMO prolly the most high end premium forgings in the world. The only thing you can get that is better i believe is some custom set hand made, or from golds or something that has collectors value. But were talking technology and performance here... I think ENDO outshines...

Sorry last para was kinda thread bump....

I agree with the last couple of posts. Counter club makers for the msot part, only mass produce the major club manufacturers. I was employed by one of the largest club Manufacturers in the cpacity of quality control. I traveled numerous times to mexico and china where the clubs were produced. It cost a good amount of money to get correct molds etc to make a half way descent knock off. More than likely they are legit......I have seen some great looking knock offs in my time, manufacturers are thinking of ways to place serial numbers by etching certain areas on the hosel,, flange etc, to get away from that problem. And the last I have heard over the last year, alot of china houses have gone out of business, becasue most US manufacturers are really pressing charges on people and legit houses are losing their contracts to produce clubs.....so quality is tight now.......good luck....

By the way I just checked all my clubs 5-PW, none of them had serial numbers on them -___- Now I'm really paranoid.

No serial #'s on the Irons.

I agree with the rest here. I would be very surprised if they are counterfeit.

I would ask the seller you bought them from for the original invoice if he still has it.
