golfrules
Hi all, What is your opinion of the PRGR 500 wedge (not the newest model), as compared to the Fourteen MT-28 V4 (black) wedge? Although I haven't tried the PRGR wedge, I've always been impressed with the quality on their woods and irons (currently using the PRGR 501 driver and love it!). Never tried anything from Fourteen before. I'm looking for something that's relatively easy to use that provides lots of spin. Thanks! If you want easy you should be trying the J-Spec II, it is not much bigger than the V4 but very very easy to hit. Classifed as automatic it is just swing and spin to the pin. The TR500 is a bit old at over 2 years. Bounce is lower though.

I'm a sucker for black irons / wedges :P Also, how would you compare them to the new PRGR wedge? Thanks!
NiftyNiblick
Is the J-Spec II much easier to hit than the Fourteen MT-28 V4 (black)? I'm a sucker for black irons / wedges :PThanks! The Fourteen J-Spec is really stable at impact. Frankly, the 52 might be as good a wedge as I've ever owned, this including Scratch and Kenneth-Smith customs. My disappointment is in the lack of low bounce options on the matching higher lofted wedges. I don't know why the Japanese love so much bounce because you can't can't play the high soft shot from forward in your stance with a bouncy wedge. They're OK for low, high spin shots from back in the stance, but not high, soft, shots.
