tigger
Hi there, I am playing Tourstage Z101 irons with stiff shafts just now. Love these clubs, looks, feel, everything about them is just great. BUT!!! I sometimes struggle to hit the long irons consistently. I am relatively new to golf, been playing for 4 years now, age a young fit 44!!! Handicap down to 12 and falling. (slowly!!!). I was thinking about buying a 3,4,5 and possibly 6 iron to compliment the z101's. Something slightly more forgiving. Preferably tourstages and definitely not shovels!! I want to improve my swing. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED, Many thanks Anybody out there playing PRGR DATA 601 or 801? Are they quite forgiving in the long irons? Same question about Epon 501 & 701's. I think you'll struggle to better the Z101's .... maybe the 701 GRs ? I only have experience of the x-blade cbs, which I love. suggestion though...... why not change the shafts to something softer? That might help. Z101s were/are a classic and seldom bettered

Hopefully with some perseverance I will have a swing that does them all justice. Never considered changing the shafts though, will maybe look into that. Thanks
Tyler Knott Gregson
I agree, a shaft change might be a lot easier than changing the entire set. Sometimes just doing that can make the clubs feel completely different, and make them suit your game a hell of a lot better. Let us know what you decide to do, and how it worked out. Z101s were/are a classic and seldom bettered Hi again, Thinking about experimenting with some graphite shafts.(suppose i'm not getting any younger). This may show my lack of knowledge but do graphite iron shafts compare like for like with steel in flex. What I mean is a stiff graphite the same as a stiff steel, just lighter. Or would a stiff graphite be similar to say a regular in steel. Shafts on my tourstages have no labels but were sold as having x100's. I know these are way out of my league but I do have a lot of success in my short irons from 150 yds in. Was thinking about trying some Tour AD's but not sure what flex. Or should I just try some NS PRO regulars. Obviously I will try some out before I part with some cash but wondered what you thought.
tigger
I have re-shafted the Z101's with Precision Flighted 5.5 Med/Firm flex, will be testing them out tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on with them. Did notice that the shafts I took out were odd lengths compared to the Flighted 5.5's. (e.g the 6 iron was the same length as the 5 iron)!!! Something I should have noticed earlier but because of my inconsistent ball-striking with my mid-irons never really had the confidence to use them much!! The perils of buying clubs off e-bay I suppose. Hope this sorts out some of my problems.

Good luck, Z101s are a good set of irons still and i'm sure you'll be rewarded for the effort in getting them back to their best. (i've not found a better PW) in any set or individual wedge offering yet.......
