Miura Giken vs Gold's Factory irons

Hi all,

What are your thoughts about Miura Giken's irons (specifically the CB-2006) as compared to Gold's Factory's cavity back irons, in terms of feel, forgiveness, etc.? I know that GF makes fabulous putters but am not sure if forging irons is their strength.

Separately, it looks like MG hasn't come out with any new irons lately, the latest being the Hagane but that is targeted at senior golfers. Any rumors if they might be releasing something new soon?

Thanks!

They don't forged irons. The Gold's CB is forged by Kyoei a forging house that has been in Japan over 50 years and where Miura worked and learned the forging trade before making his own brand.

The CB-2006 is a great and forgiving iron but it is a retail model. What you see is what you get.

The Gold's is hand ground and finished to the way you want it and can be customized with engraving.

Both are wonderful irons with similar forgiveness and soft feel.

The Gold's may be a touch smaller.

It is typical of Miura to not release many models as the CB-2006 was released last year and as you said Hagane was just released.

I've owned both sets of Irons. I still own the Gold's CB's

They are the more forgiving of the two. Feel was actually similar but the Gold's felt and performed better on mis hits.

Tario, thanks for the info. I didn't realize that GF was forged by Kyoei. I take it that TSG also carries the GF CB in black?

idrive, I guess the MG CB-2006 wasn't good enough for you to have kept them? :) It's interesting that you still own the GF CB - why do you still keep it? Also, do you own the GF CB in regular or black color? Just wondering how the black finish holds up.

Thanks!
