golfware
Hi all, First post, but have been a "lurker" for years and years. First, wonderful site here. All the JDM forged irons just make me drool a bit. So I just wanted to see if anyone has hit or is currently gaming the JDM TM Burner Forged. They look incredible to me. I'm in the market for this type of iron and would like to know how they compare to the new Diablo Forged (Callaway Legacy) iron. Thx for the info! It's not as large as the Legacy or Diablo Forged Iron. The setup is much better for the eye but really have a look at the Epon AF-502, they are a better shape and size, much longer and forgiving. gocchin
Both are very good irons. While the Diablo forged is the Legacy Forged in disguise, to me it looks like it has more offset (I would have to check the numbers to verify). The Legacy Forged is in fact smaller than the Burner Forged but has a slightly thicker top line than the Burner Forged. Feel on both are unmistakenably forged but both will give automatic like performance. The Legacy technically has an undercut but you don't feel it as it has a vibration damper in it. The Burner Forged also uses inverted cone technology and has a very cool pearl like satin finish. The Legacy actually has an interesting almost beads boron like finish as well. golfware
Thx guys. Yeah, both look incredible. The feel of the Callaway Diablo Forged is just so sweet. Wow. I was able to demo them with Pro V1's and was just so impressed. The Burner Forged look even better. Thanks for the honest feedbak though. Much appreciated. Decisions... decisions.... To clarify, the Epon AF-502s are longer than the TM Burner Forged when comparing irons of similar lofts? How much longer? Thanks
rb2235
Chris or Gocchin---is heads only an option on the Burner Forged? Thanks
gocchin
Chris or Gocchin---is heads only an option on the Burner Forged? Thanks Hi R, As with all TM clubs, no heads only. Burner is available though for custom shafts.
18th Legion
If the purpose is to have the feel of a forged iron, I don't see how it's even a close call. The Callaway Diablo/Legacy Forged is two piece with the back of the iron being the forged part opposed to the a fully forged iron in the TaylorMade Burner Forged. With a cast face, I don't see how Callaway can justify calling this a forged iron. Pure deception. In comparison the R9 Forged is two piece for mid and long irons, but at least they got it right and it's the face that is forged. Look forward to a R9 Forged versus Burner Forged comparison. (Had to throw that in).
