PRGR EGG Spoon Video Review and Sound at Impact

I thought you did a great job, and I hope you do more. Perhaps you could show ball flight as well in the future?

The performance of the egg spoon sounds awesome, but the actual sound! Yikes! Guess you'll get over the horrible sound pretty quick once you put a few out there, but wow. :D

Good effort Gocchin. Thanks for doing the video review.

I have to agree with Keen. The sound is just terrible but as they say the end justifies the means. It is the result that counts. Which loft would you recommend for a 250y approach shot?

Any chance of getting the new RC SFD on video?

Thanks,

F

You guys really think the sound is terrible? (^_^) I did find it odd at first but I don't know about terrible. I found the EMB more terrible as that sounded like the head cracked open. I've grown to like the sound but like you said, performance is the bottom line. Maybe bad sounding clubs are long? (^_^)

Even my playing partners started liking the sound. Whenever I hit it they knew right away it was the Spoon.

I'd love to have showed the ball flight but this is the range in my backyard (in the community here) and its only a 100 yards long!

IMO, the sound is not that loud/crisp outside on the golf course.

It's a loud tink but the audio in the video sounds louder to me than actual playing conditions.

Great video T.

maybe due to recording at a covered range? I find clubs always sound different to out on the course when hit in a covered range.

Top marks for the presentation though and you're a natural at the narration :tsg_smiley_heart:

Looking forward to seeing more.

That was a good job.

As for the sound, that "crack" does sound like a toned down or muted version of the EMB.

It shouldn't matter for the woods, unlike a driver, because you're probably in the fairway and have some distance to other people compared to the tee.

I would take performance over sound any day.

Great job T the video was very informative and honest (I don't really like the alignment aid!)

I thought the sound was a very solid tink and I think similar to my Kamui 456, just sounds like a Ti driver not a sus fairway due to the Ti construction IMO

Keep up the good work.

idrive,

Is your 15* an egg or egg spoon? and if it's a spoon how do you find the distance gap down to the 18* sus egg?

It's most likely louder as I was so concerned about capturing the true sound that I had the camera 20" away from the ball and less than a foot high off the ground. So the sound that was captured was much closer to the ball impact than the players ear would be.

The 15* is the spoon.

Off the fairway, I have about a 20 yard diff. I think if it had the same shaft it would be slightly closer (15yd) as the MD does seem to run out a bit more with a lower traj.

The spoon certainly sounds attractive. My Yamaha V-fw is a beast off the tee but it's not forgiving at all (trajectory wise) off the deck which usually has me wanting to push a 5W rather than pull the 3W. Most of the par 5's at the courses I play are pretty well guarded and don't allow for rolling approaches unless you really work them in there so the egg seems fairly attractive for that. I wish it didn't have that little jewel like alignment dot.

Good video review.

How does this club compare to the Yamaha D Power Spoon, distance forgiveness etc. Has anyone played both clubs.

I tested the Yamaha at their product test day and I found it harder to hit as it was a full inch longer than my Egg Spoon. Because of this I hit my Egg Spoon further (I had it there at the range at the same time). Feel is good but definitely different on the Yamaha as it is more typical high pitched tink sound you get from FW's. I find the EGG's more forgiving than the Yamaha FW's though the Yamaha's are very good and always among the best selling.
