Battle of the 3 Woods is OOOOOVER

I want to say that the loser of this shootout is an excellent FW. I like that you can customize the head and have it built just for you.

Kamui FW 14* w/Crazy FW80

PRGR Egg 15* w/GD Quattrotech MD

This was the original set up. After several range and course shootouts the Clubs were then shipped to Goodsie and the shafts were swapped.

Kamui:

I had a hard time launching the Kamui with the Crazy. Feel was a little dull. The shot was fairly consistant, low screaming bullet that ran forever. The Kamui is the perfect shape for a FW, IMO. Very pleasing to look at and sets up very well. Sound is a low muted thud. Nothing tinky about this head.

The Kamui with the GD MD launches (med) higher now. Actually just about perfect unless you're looking for that high floater. Feel is better and the club performs better. Distance seems to be about the same. Not the easiest to pick off the fairway but easier than most. Excellent off of the Tee.

EGG:

Was a winner with the GD shaft. After hitting the Kamui FW I was afraid the Crazy was not going to work well in the EGG

Boy was I wrong. It has made this club even better. Longer and straighter. Both clubs perform better with the shafts they now have in them. The EGG Spoon with the Crazy is just amazing. Everything about it works and works well. The best feature and there are many, is the forgiveness and distance on mis hits.

If there is another combo out there that works better than the EGG Spoon w/Crazy FW80 I don't know what it is.

Fantastic Report!

You beat me to it, I'm waiting for my Crazy FW shaft. What specs and model did you go with?

For now I have to hit the EGG Spoon with the stock shaft. What's the trajectory like with the Crazy?

I've found the Crazy to be a lower trajectory than the stock shaft. I don't have the final specs (cpm's) on the FW80. It is SR flex. I only hit the stock shaft a couple of times before the GD MD was installed. The MD was much better than the stock shaft. As I said the Crazy has made it longer and straighter. Noticeably straighter.

This is the first time, and I'll bet nobody can find a review I've done that says, that a shaft I played/tested actually did square up better, noticeably better. This is the most consistancy I've seen/noticed from a shaft.

Crazy w/Epon EM-S review next: To go where no ball has gone before....

Excellent report. I'm looking forward to my 202 HT / QT combo. Given all the strong recommendations for the EGG, I just might have to put the 2 head to head for myself. If I like the CB50 in my 102 (on the way) then I will also try to FW80 in either or both FW's.

Can anybody tell me something about the stock shaft on the Egg Spoon? Still trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger on the Egg Spoon. Unfortunately it is so pricey that I can't afford upgrading shafts for now. Actually I really wanna give it a go, but with that price tag I need to be absolutely sure.

The stock shaft is an excellent shaft.

It is important to know your swing speed so that you order the correct shaft.

I found the stock shaft to be slightly soft so if you're inbetween flexes choose the stiffer flex.

I have the new 202 HT Fairway wood ( will post pics soon ). To be 100% honest IMO it doesnt compare with the Egg's. It does look better, more conservative in design. I would say the PRGR has a clear edge in all major categories. The Egg is much longer, although im comparing a 13* to 15*. The Egg is much more forgiving, Big difference even against the HT's more shallow face design.

The QT is a great shaft option for fairway woods. I also suggest the DI-7, Crazy FW, and Diamana i'lima for get up quick and easy results.

The thing about the Egg is that it is so unique when it comes to design, materials, sound and feel. I am surprised nobody has tried to make an FW along the same lines or maybe they are afraid to?

It is no surprise however that the EGG released in 2008 is still in PRGR's current lineup as we all know how good it is.

The stock shaft is good but it does launch rather high which is not necessarily a bad thing if people have trouble getting the ball in the air. It is meant for max carry.

Gosh I have to put a Crazy in mine too it sounds like. I love the FW80 in my PRGR 7 W.

guys what a surprise today has been. a client of mine left his PRGR egg spoon 13* with an upgraded Crazy f80s shaft. man this is the combo i have been wanting to try for the longest time. he is asking me to sell it for him since he just purchased a Epon non HT13*. his complaint, club was too long for the short course he plays. the price he wants is soo ridiculous i am thinking of picking it up for myself.

i have never tried an egg spoon but i am excited an apprehensive at the same time for fear it may kick out my 3HT out of my bag. also i would have preferred a 15* but i cannnot be picky. the chances of someone practically giving away this combo away is virtually zilch. i dont even know anyone with a crazy shaft in my country. anyway really excited. finally i get to try an egg spoon:)

well probably had 1 hour with the club to test in the range, what surprised me was the sound. i did not expect it to be so loud, almost like E-M-B loud. i think the FW80 crazy shaft it too stout for me and i like my specs in x. in the range i couldnt launch the ball at all, had some teaching pros try it as well and they find the shaft a bit on the stout side. i will go to the course tom and give this another shot. frankly i think the problem is the shaft. even the original owner said the shaft is on the stiff side but he could handle it for those long par 5 runners and stingers.

I generally play a stiff shaft. My FW80 is an SR flex and is as stout as I can handle. IMO even the SR flex requires a SS in the neighborhood of 100 mph. (driver)

I have found the Crazy shafts do not like to be babied. Go after it!!!

this sucker was a fw80 x with a frequency of 268. doesnt sound so bad i have games stiffer but

for some reason it felt so stiff. had to adjust my tempo to make it work which was not cool at all. maybe for me a R would do:)

I got through reading all the reviews on the PRGR Egg and it sounds like you cannot go wrong with this club. Deciding between the 15* or 17* and will go with the stock shaft as I swing regular flex shafts -- 88 mph. I am leaning toward the 15* as I do not have problems getting a 3 wood up in the air. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to take delivery of the club. You know how golfers are. Once they decide on something, which may take a while, then they cannot wait to get it in theirs hands. By the way, how are the stock PRGR shafts? Thanks, Ken

PRGR stock shaft is soft, I can easily get away with using it but I know many who can't. At your swing speed M-40 should be a good choice.

The EGG's ship fairly quick now days. It's been out for a while.

In regards to CRAZY shafts, Always stiffer than you would think.... just remember that.

Actually just to note, the FW's ship relatively quickly but the spoons can sometimes be back ordered as they are still in demand. Also if you custom order a spoon it will take 4 weeks at least.

268 is not bad at all for the Crazy.

bogeydog's first SR flex Crazy was 266 and that is a DRIVER.

The 80 series is actually the softest of all the Crazy shafts!

If it was a longest yard driver shaft X it would CPM close to 280.

My order on the spoon just got back order until the end of the month:( Finally decided to pull the trigger on it and then it gets back ordered. S#*t. You know golfers, it takes a long time to decide but when you do you wanna have it immediately. Hehehe. Oh well, I guess I will have to wait.

Well, just keep telling yourself that good things are worth waiting for. :)

I guess the spoons are in demand.

well i have another shot with the egg 13.

friend pulled out his crazyf80 shaft and will put it in a another higher lofted

head. being the never give up type i will plug in a ngs machline fw65. as

previously stated, the f80 shaft was the culprit. very very stout for me.

hopefully this low/mid kick shaft will be easier to pick up and elev8 the

ball. if all goes well i will consider keeping this and picking up a QT md

shaft.

I'm surprised the FW80 is very very stout for you... if anything I find the FW80 on the softer side COMPARED to other Crazy shafts. Is it possible it was installed incorrectly. It is designed short so should NOT be tipped for a 3 wood install. Tipping only begins at 5 wood and up.

Crazy shafts are also higher launching (but lower spinning).
