tigerhood
hi...this is my first post here.. after having used US golf equipment for most of my 52 years of playing golf--mostly callaway for the last 20 years-- i recently decided to try japan forged irons.. i started with bridgestone j36 pocket cavities and recently got a set of tourstage v7000 irons with the stock graphite shafts all in superb condition... i realize these are almost 10 year old models but their design looks very current... i tried them for the first time yesterday on the range and am very impressed with their very soft feel and forgiveness... aside from the use of more exotic clubhead materials like tungsten and vibration dampening stuff--is there really any significant difference between the newer tourstage iron models --the heads specially--vs my older ones?? i also realize that graphite shafts have improved vastly since 10 years ago but i can always reshaft them if needed.. i am 64 years old and have been as low as a 3 hdcp but am currently playing to a 9 and can still carry 225-230 yards with my callaway hyperX 10.5 degree tour driver with fujikura e-360 regular flex shaft ... i would appreciate any comments especially from those with actual experience with this model... thank you for any replies... Duffer19
The one thing you would notice is that the club head of the V7000 is much larger (clunkier?) than the current JDM player's CBs. The V7000 was TS attempt for game improvement irons back then and the offset is much greater than those offered nowadays and it has reversed offset for the short irons. Other than that, it is forgiving, soft and long. My old set has been passed around amongst my beginner friends for awhile but ended up with me again recently. tigerhood
many thanks for the reply duff!...the reverse offset really does not bother me at all and i can see myself using this set for a loooong time!!! i just played these on the course for the first time yesterday and am very happy with them...my best shot was a 6-iron 10 feet past the pin on a 175 yard par-3 with an island green... ....also hit a P/S( 51 degree gap wedge) from 115 yards with a slightly helping wind to an elevated green 8 ft from the hole----and missed the birdie putt!! if 10 year old tourstage irons are these good i can't imagine how much better the newer models are...
