shacco
since there are some old eggs showing up used now, I was wondering if it would be possible to use a 9FW Egg as a hybrid. I have never seen a 9FW in person, so I don't know how big or small they are. Are they comparable in size to a hybrid? Shafts are oviously a little longer than a hybrid, so I'm concerned about lie angle when shortening the club.
gocchin
S, the 9W is very comparable to a utility, and in fact probably easier to hit than some utilities. At it's stock length, it's a tad longer than most 22* utilities but not by much these days, I'd definitely try it at its length first. There are always many debates going on about #3 or 4 UT or 7W or 9W and many times people recommend a wood as it's larger has a sole with more area and typically a lower CG. FatMan
I would say that they are tad bigger than a hybrid... Took a couple of pics earlier that you can hopefully use as a comparison. (Disclaimer: I am no "T" when it comes to taking club pics. So bear with me. He has it nailed down whenever he does comparison photos!) From Left to Right: (1st 2 pics): Egg Spoon 15*, Egg 5W 18*, Egg 9W 22*, G-Field 3 Hybrid (3rd pic): Egg 9W 22*, G-Field 3 Hybrid
gocchin
Great pics Marc! The GFT UT is actually pretty small if I remember correctly so the 9W is really right in between.

Exactly what I was looking for. Hmmm, they are bigger than a hybrid. Not sure it would work for me. Can you tell me how they compare? supo
nice one marc! never realized you had the older eggs. i too am curious on replacing some of my hybrids. i have a 19* one which i am considering replacing with a 7 wood when i am in better shape. great photos , dont under sell urself here they are perfect! i saw the 22* egg. 9 wood in shop last week and stopped in my tracks to consider it, wasnt loking for one, but considering i am going to changes my hybrid, this stoppped me. i ve used a cpl of others last 2 weeks and they dont suit at all, its the shape that throws me. ive used a new TM and an adams but the shapes dont suit me at all. i checked out the RC but agn the shapes not ideal , this 9w thing tho........ is very tempting. the 18* is too storng for that role and too big but this might do the job briliantly. im gonna give this a try, as youve probably guessed im prettty partial to the egg range and for a ute style club this is smaller than the fairways but bigger than the typical utes. im gonna go back tonight, bag that elephant. im off playing golf at the "phoenix resort " all next week so everything is in takyubin on the way down now to get the mother of all workouts. 10 games in 10 days the idea! when my winter bag gets settled by this. im hoping the ute situation is finalised. ( just gotta have one of these in ya bag )

Not sure it would work for me. Can you tell me how they compare? S, The face of the Egg is shallower than the hybrid but, longer heel to toe. To my eyes, I think the design of the Egg also has the illusion of making it look bigger than it should especially when you put it side by side to a smaller club like a hybrid. You have to look at it as a FW. It wouldn't be fair for me to judge the performance between the 2. For some reason, hybrids just haven't worked out well for me in the past so I went the 7/9W route. Maybe I just haven't found the right one. The 9W is an forgiving & easy to hit FW. For that reason, I know that there are at least a couple of more experienced members here who have bagged it and have posted their comments/reviews that you can search for. I haven't been able to spend much time with it 'coz I ended up with a combination that knocked it out of my bag in a heartbeat. wow can you take a pic of the soles???!!!!
